I think you will like that Lavey Craft. My Dad almost bought that exact hull with the open bow in 1988 and I remember looking at them being built. Lavey was a repuitable builder back then just as they are now. If you hvae questions abou the boat or the setup I would recomend calling Lavey Craft directly and asking them some questions. That's what I did when I bought Hallett used.

hmmm...I dont think it is the original paint, is the license # always the same? I wonder who was the original owner and what it had in it...if they ever used it, etc...

There should be a Hull ID # somewhere on the transom or inside the boat. Those never change. Even without it, they will be able to give you info on handling characteristics, your bimini question,... Phone # is (909) 273-9690

Al Lavey still drops by the shop from time to time. If Jeff and Chris can't give you the specifics you need, Al probably can.
His old race flatty is at the shop now too. Stop by and check it out!!! They are going to restore it to nwe condition.

Now that I see the picture of the boat you are looking at.....RUN,......... Dont walk, and buy that thing quick. Thats a good price. Even though mine is a 18' version of that one you are looking at I am sure it's built very strong like mine. On occassion I have had mine completly out of the water flying over cruiser wakes. It lands solid with no creaks or flex. There is no Gelcoat cracking anywhere on the hull. The bilge is even color gelcoated. Better than most builders of the day.

Your boat is Beautiful...The one I am looking at is a I/O...I was thinking about taking out the 2 rear seats and having a custom engine cover made the full width of the boat so we could have a flat lay out platform...Think that is possible?
I have already called and made the deal...Thanks to all for the posts...

Thanks, and congratulations on your purchase. Anything can be done for interior modifications pending on how much you want too pay......like all things pertaining to boats and etc etc. You'll just have to see how much room there is above the carb/flame arrestor to see how high the "lay out platform" would have to be.

Sorry, I was out of town. We are very happy with our 87 Lavey. I paid about the same for mine 3-4 years ago with a strong BBF but the boat was beat from being left out in the weather. Now I've got about $15k in the boat and trailer including the purchase price. Worth every penny. If you have any questions let me know.
