I've actually done it. Bolts right up.
Everything is the same. Only thing different is the timing cover and oil pan.
I bought the 502 shortblock and ran good Mark IV heads. Valve train is a little different. It needs Gen VI lifters. The cam is the same except they machine a groove on the front of the cam for the cam retainer.
Good conversion. :D Good luck
FYI, sh*t-can the stock 502 timing chain!

what is wrong with the stock timing chain? when building my motor i couldnt find an aftermarket timing set. so i used the stock one.

The single roller chain on the stock Gen VI is notorious for stretching. Rollmaster makes a double roller with Iwis chain that fits underneath a stock GM Gen VI cover. This is a billet set with 9 position keyway for adjustability.
