To help me out with a new musical set up in the boat!
Right now I have a Sony cd deck with 40 wx4.
I am thinking of going with a pop-up dvd with XM. Any ideas, and what about antennas on the boat - what works well?
Also, who do I use in Havasu for the install?
Thanks
Rick

At first glance at the topic I thought I did something wrong.. :D
Plenty of Ideas here, Rick ;)
Where you going to have it mounted?
Ruben at Soundbank or the guys at CarToyz seem to be the ticket... Scuba had pretty good luck with them...

I thought that may get your attention!
I've been "perusing" the sites of Good Guys, Best Buy and Circuit City. I think that maybe the video is a little over the top for my boat, but...???
Anyway, I definitely want to go with a new XM ready deck. I found a sony (wiring harness should be the same as the current one) that appears to meet what I would want. It's a Sony CDXF5500. What do you think/options. Maybe I should call you??

Rick, you saw my boat with the big old XM antenna. Well, I replaced it with a new itsy bitsy one that I'll show you next week at Havasu if you haven't gotten one yet.

depending on your layout and listening habits, a dual zone deck with an add on dvd plus a screen only may be somehting worth looking into. The costfor the units would likely be a little less, but it's a bit more labor intensive...
I can always meet you in Encinitas one of these days if you like...

Yes, real little, but Roz gave me instruction on how to paint it, so it is now white to match the hull. Hardly noticeable and works great.

The XM antennas do not have to be visible most of the time we stick them to the top of the radio and then you dont have to worry about seeing them or painting them. I have it that way on mine and the only time it cuts out is when someone sits on the dash right above the antenna. It does recieve through fiberglass. Since XM has come out there has been onlyone time where the antenna had to be mounted in a visible location.

With the cable loose a person can try it in several locations(including under the deck) then place it in the location they choose fit. I think that the do it yourselfer wants to put in onto a location they no will never be problematic. :) Just remember to stay away from metallic paints :)

ok, I'm looking at the delphi sky-fi as you recommended. It's about 225 for the reeeiver and remote, FM modulator, carry case, mounting bracket, docking station and micro antenna....sound ok?

I went to that site and the post above is what I found. Checking with Roz to see if it's a good deal! I do like the antenna....and the fact I can place below the deck!

Unfortunately when I bought my boat, it already had one of the larger mouse sized antenna's (black) mounted on the deck. I replaced it with one of the new small ones (now painted white), and it is a huge improvement. I also had to get one of the splitters to go from the old two wire system to the new one wire, and it works great.

FM mod SA10003(FM MOD) and the SA10002(adaptor kit including cradle) should be about 60.00 ;)

I can almost remember that........What a blast! This was right before Roz asked me to introduce him to Phat Matt's blow up pig. :D:D:D
That is that turbine boat behind us?

Yes, that is the turbo boat. Sounded cool coming in. The black on the hull is the pick up bed liner stuff. Kinda funky.
