I have a question
it is regarding boating
when passing a slower boat
with boats coming at you on the left
and rocks on the right
what is the correct procedure?
just curious
I am sure my man knows this, but I would like to know
Thanks so much:D

correct procedure is don't pass till it's safe to, as in enough clearance as to not cause a problem. patience is occasionally required just like on the road.
I'd avoid the rock option.

thank you!
:D
because if you pass on the right, how do you know he isn't going to turn that way?
and the left, the boats are coming at you, right?
got it!
thanks!:D

when it comes to the river and oncoming traffic, aim for the middle, lay on the throttle and let the slower boats give way :D

obviously don't try to make a pass where there's not room to be safe, but I'll take my chances with the middle of the river over the shoreline any day of the week.....
that was honest advice

Even passing on the left may result in the other boat/PWC turning left in front of you. That issue causes a lot of boating collisions. My habit is to make sure the other DRIVER sees me, hears me, knows I am there, and what my intensions are. Loud boats save lives!!...........My.02........Moneypitt

Unless of course, they are showing lots of babes and booze on the boat, then you pull over and steal the women and drink the booze, then take off. :)

so pull up slow, make eye contact and then pass?
what if he turns in front of you?
(I missed two jetskies doing this at mead a few weeks back, but I was ready for them, I expected them to do that)
Passing in the middle seems kinda scarey............
I can see the loud boats save lives part, because he will hear you coming up behind him............;)

I agree here too....always try and make eye contact with the other driver....
although if its a pwc I just assume they are going to do something stupid and keep my hand ready on the throttle/wheel

No, he's not kidding. If you look at a safe boating book, it discusses this topic at length.
a power-driven vessel intending to overtake another power-driven vessel shall indicate her intention by the following signals on her whistle:
one short blast to mean "I intend to overtake you on your starboard side"
two short blasts to mean "I intend to overtake you on your port side".
(ii) the power-driven vessel about to be overtaken shall, if in agreement, sound a similar signal. If in doubt she shall sound the danger signal prescribed in paragraph (d).

More importantly Deb, since we don't have the fastest boats out there, keep an eye out for these big boys coming up fast. When you see one let them know that you see them. I usually put my hand up to let them know I see them and I put it up on the side that it looks like they are gonna pass on. Don't forget if they are a board member to throw them the shocker:D
