Hi everybody,
I have a 25' Warlock cat that I just finished building the motor for and was wondering what outdrirve I should go with? What are your opinions on the different Bravo style drives that are out there? B-max is out of the picture as I have had some issues with them.
Thanks

Or a #5 or #6 (since it's your money). Otherwise, you'll be breaking stuff (depending on if you have a loose nut on the steering wheel).

Im gonna try not to break it and I know I should get a #6 there is just to much involved in doing that.

Go with a good old fashion xr. Great with reliability and if something does go wrong, there are kits galore out there to build them beefy. Not cheap either but it doesn't sound like you are penny tight using that quad rotor and all.

best price I found was 21K for the drive it self, 13K for the transom assem, 4k for the tranny, and about 3k for the prop then I would have to re-rigg everything. So about $41,000 if I cant find some good used stuff.

And maybe move your engine?
On the other hand, $41K is only a few broken Bravos. Also, how about the guy who broke a drive in his (new to him) 42' Fountain...and sunk it?
Bellows are cheap, but a sunken boat may not be so cheap.

Yes, by re-rigg I was also talking about moving the motor.

If you "baby it" out of the hole, keep the grease fresh and a good drive shower you should be ok for awhile. Check with Max Machine, they are honest and do good work.
If I remember correctly, Info was pushing about 970-1000 hp through a somewhat stock Bravo (with the exception of different gear ratio) and had good luck, they just brought her out easy......

If you have a little time, Pat weisman at Traction products is coming out with his own version of a bravo, and anything Pat puts together is usually pretty macho. It will definatly handle those wannabe blowers you have. (Ha HA):D

Arson - and they have a swap kit for bravo. It's not without it's own issues (low speed maneuverability blah blah)but you will not break it.

I talked to Max Machine today and they really know there stuff. They quoted me $9500 for everything. This is with a standard lower with a nose cone, both the upper and lower case are rebuilt. Does this seem like a good deal? I am not trying to argue a point but I can get a complete IMCO SC drive new for $8700. Money is money and with gas being the way it is every little bit helps, so I am just trying to make sure.
Again thanks

So does the $9500 price tag sound about right to you guys that have them. again thats with rebuilt XR upper and lower case. The lower has WPM nose cone and then all the Max Machine stuff inside both the upper and lower.

Yeah, but then there's the $$$$$$$$$$$
Problem is that the bravo type drive even the super duper upgraded ones just have a limit. And it seems lots of people push the engine beyond the drive's limitations. Just my $.02

This is true, But when it comes to 9k vs 30k most people will take a chance with the bravo. You may get luck and get a few hours on it but it is just a matter of time as they can NOT handel the power !!! #6 is the only way to go if you have the $$$$$

Not sure if a #6 would be the best for a 25 Warlock? Not alot of room for the trans and what not.It would be nice to have one and all but I would stick with the Bravo drive.#6's are indeed nice but they also have alot of service that has to be done on them.Dinging a prop on one of them would make my wallet cry!:D

Believe me I know. I got tired of breaking bravos on my V bottom boat so when I got my new V I went with the #6. On a very heavy boat with allot of drag and power I understand that you need the #6's so thats what I did.
I have had my Warlock since it was new in 91' and just loved the boat to much to ever sell it. Up until last year it has had it original drive that was only rebuilt one time back in 96' when I bent a prop shaft. The boat started with a NA 540 back in 91 and after that we have run many blower motors some with NOS also. I have run just about every blower you could in this boat from a 420 Mega Blower to a 12-71 LittleField and now a Quad Rotor. When Tom Stolarz built this boat I had him raise the X dimenson allot and lighten the deck etc. so this might add to why I had such luck with the bravo. Jrocket also mentioned the other problem. If I went with the #6 I would loose the back seat almost completly. Especially after talking with Max Machine I dont think I will have a problem running their Bravo.
