So I had quite the day. Put about 400 miles on the odomoter and gained a whole new outlook on life. My day started in Denver and lead me through Cheyenne, WY. and on in to Laramie, WY.
So here's how the day played out.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00188-med.JPG Seen a lot of open road and most it looked like this
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00192-med.JPG
Made a quick stop here
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00193-med.JPG
Then drove next door and this is where I also stopped. These places are located directly over the border from Colorado. There are 3 big places and they are basically a Toys R Us for pyro's. I usually drop close to a grand at one of them yearly for the 4th. 10,000 square feet of Artillary shells, repeaters, roman candles, rockets, etc. Quite the place and its easy to spend way to much money in them.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00196-med.JPG
Cheyenne is the Capitol of Wyoming. With a population of 56,000 people it is the most populated city within the state of Wyoming and also the most economically sound. Casper comes in at a close second. A lot of business are currently moving to Cheyenne and they expect the city to double if not triple in size within the next 3 years.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00197-med.JPG
A closer shot of the capitol building. I am always impressed with how clean the city of Cheyenne is.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00199-med.JPG
This is what most of Wyoming looks like. Rolling hills and lots of rocks. I didnt get pictures but some of the rock formations I seen were really cool. This was taken on my way form Cheyenne to Laramie.

Both above are just some historical shit related to the next picture.

As I was driving on the highway on my way to Laramie I came across this thing right against the highway. Obviously I had to go check it out. The statue is located at the highest point of the Lincoln highway its at an elevation of 8,065 feet. Other then airplane rides most of you So-Caler's prolly havent been to elevations over 3,000 feet.

http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00208-med.JPG I once heard someone say that Wyoming is so flat and empty you could sit on your back porch and watch your dog run away for 2 days. Now I see why.

Welcome to Laramie. One of the most depressing towns I have ever been to in my life. The main part of town is decent but the outskirts are very poverty stricken. Most of the people I seen on the outer edges of town were filfthy and in ratty old clothing. It was very obvious I wasnt anywhere close to Denver anymore. Being in this town really made me grateful for everything I have. Obviously these people didn't have much and didn't have much oppurtunity to change that. Laramie is also home of Wyotech and the Unisveristy of Wyoming. Both nationally recognized and highly accredited educational institutes.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00217-med.JPG These were posted on both ends of town. Apparently the town has a meth problem?
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00215-med.JPG Apparently in a joint effort with the state of Wyoming the local Conoco has decided to offer discounted dip as a safe alternative to meth. This place was 1 blovk from the meth sign.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00209-med.JPG Laramies golf course. Well maintained and nicely appointed.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00210-med.JPG Its full of wildlife as you can see.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00211-med.JPG Just a better pic of the deer and ducks grazing in the wild.
http://www.***boat.com/image_center/data/520/721DSC00212-med.JPG Uh-oh Better watch out for the skunk trap on the 9th. You can't really tell fromt he pics but the wildlife was beautifully preserved in a hard cheaply painted plastic coating.
... Not Done yet...

Went to Cheyenne for business. Made a wrong turn and wound up on the Lincoln highway. 50 miles later i was in laramie.
Didnt get any other pics. I cold called some tow company in Laramie and the guys were playing with shot guns. At that point I decided to head home.
I'll be heading back out to Wyoming in a couple weeks for a week long camping trip. May go back up there sooner for business. I'll definitely take some more photos. There's a lot of historic stuff out that way.

Wyoming is one of the last few states that still gives people the freedoms Americans were suppose to have. Last year was the first year we camped there over the 4th. The park ranger told us to drive out of the state park and just up the road and we'd find a great big dirt road to light up the sky on. We went out there and started blowin sh*t up left and right while suckin down beer after beer. Sherrifs drove by a few times and just smiled and waved at us. It felt really weird being able to do that sh*t legally.
Now I just gotta figure out how I can get some really big, really illegal sh*t over here from Mexico to blow up.

You've got a lot of nerve. Do you know how many states do not have income tax, four?
Don't diss my state. It may be cold and desolate, but you should have a little respect. After all, not a lot of dumb f***s use the handle Boozer. Stupid f***s like you should stay the f**k out. You got any probs, PM me and we'll talk, but dont f**k with the west. If you gave a s**t about Colorado, you'd have a proper mouth.
And here I was going to get with some of your flattie folks on Guernsey Reservoir. Oh yeah, you probably have a boat a kid can drive.

Well now, us Norcal guys have mountain passes equally as high as that. Donner Pass 7400, Echo Summit 7200, and the secondary highways are higher going over the Sierra.
I grew up in Wyoming (for 6 years anyway). The southeastern part of the state is pretty flat. The Northwestern and central part of the state has large mountain ranges. Beautiful country!
Wyoming DOT (http://www.wyoroad.info/highway/roadbuddies.html)
THis Map has some webcams you can access and weather stations located in various places around the state. Fun to look in winter and see just how effing miserable it is there.
Pinedale Online (http://www.pinedaleonline.com/)
This is one of the most beautiful areas in Wyoming, the north central and northwest parts of the state. Awesome country.
Oh and both my brother and sister graduated from University of Wyoming in Laramie.......

It does Rock.... summer would be awesome if you could winter in Arizona or something. I lived in Casper and the damn wind blew all the damn time. We had snow up to the rain gutters around the house a few times. And there were a few storms I can remember when it got down to -36 degrees... Friggin Freezing Mr. Bigglesworth!

Just a little defensive when folks pick on a state with 300,000 people. No one has pissed on my Cheerios, but a little respect for one of the last free states would be appreciated. When I go out of state, do I b***h? Do I comment on the boating laws, or the garbage along the highways, or the insane prices to camp? I'm not pissed, just disappointed with people's glitteriing generalities.

Or lack of knowledge. I love Wyoming. I am now officially spoiled by Northern California Weather... but a big part of my life is still there in Wyo. I went back two years ago. I still have relatives that live in Sheridan, and friends in Casper.
As far as it being the last unspoiled state, well you are pretty darn close to right. But a Democrat for a Governor? Never did get that one.
And Yeah, Boozer... don be dissin my other state......:p :D

Did you notice that I did mention that Laramie is home to not just one but 2 of the most nationally recognized education insitutes in the country? University of Wyoming has a class size of 17:1 meanin 17 students to 1 educator I dont know of any insitiute in the country that can offer that. Wyotech is the leading mechanical institute in the country. Nascar mechanics come out wyotech.
Did you also not notice that i stated that Wyoming is one of the last states in this country where Americans have the freedoms they deserve? All of our constitutional rights are preserved dearly in Wyoming.
I'm not ignorant when it comes to the state of Wyoming. I know quite a bit about the state and it's herritage due to some very intesive research I have done on the state.
As a side note my move to California has been postponed indefinitely. My company is in the works of getting the approval to relocate me to Cheyenne. I already found 30 acres right on the outskirts of town that I intend to build a home on based on the companies approval and support.
If you took my post as an insult to Wyoming in general I apologize more then words can describe. I did not intend to diss on Laramie but rather make pun of a situation that I found to be unsettling. The city of Laramie saddened me because I seen people in situations that they should not be in but were in to deep to get out of.
Also, the state of Wyoming now has a population of about 500,000 according to the states government office.
BTW- Wyoming is run by old republicans with old views and supported by young people who support those old republicans. One of the things that is heavily protected is the right to bare arms. Getting a CCW in Wyoming is a fairly simple and inexpensive process. You have a clean criminal background, know how to use a gun safely, and live in Wyoming... You are approved. The state also has no state income tax because they feel that a state income tax is not fair to to the people and will drive business out of Wyoming rather than create new jobs and new business There old/current policy works quite well. Not to mention you can buy 30 acres of land build a nicely appointed 5,000 square foot house and spend under 300K. With the current rate of growth in 5 years that 300K investment will be worth somewhere in the ball park of 550-600K.
So again, I apologize if my post upset people and made them feel as though I was slamming the state of Wyoming.
If you dont want people to make pun of towns situation then vote down the billboards for meth make overs and dont allow people to advertise discounted Copenhagen. Oh wait.... If you did that you would become a liberal f*ck who doesn't want people to have the freedoms Wyoming represents. Therefor live with the pun or become a liberal.
Now lets see if the move actually takes place. Since I have been with this company I was suppose to go to scranton PA. then California and now Wyoming. I'll have a for sure answer within the next month or two. Regardless, somehow, some way, I am getting out of Denver. On the plus side they have already funded and approved my enrollment into the Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.
Snowboat; I dont go any further north then Glendo at this point. Glendo is a sanctuary to me. Big lake no more then 100 boats on the water on busy weekends... It'd be a sanctuary to most boaters.

Wyoming is a great state if FLAT is your thing. J/K!!!
I went to Wyo Tech for their body/paint program. The instructors were one of a kind, let me tell you. Being a Cali boy, it really threw me for a loop.
Wyoming gave me a bunch of firsts....
1st time seeing deer on the side of the road in town. (Casper, WY)
1st time going to a drive-thru liquor store
1st time on the back of a snowmobile.
1st time knowing what COLD F**KIN weather is like (I was there from Jan - Mar 1990)
1st time knowing what a roommate is like.
The only day I didn't wear my thermals, was the day it was 10 below zero!
Oh, and in Laramie, if someone is broken down on the side of the road...you don't have to wait long for help. My friends car broke down and car after car would stop and ask if we were ok.

Boozer, how can you crack on anyone else's city when you come from DENVER?!!??!! Denver is a major league toilet nowadays. You can hardly breathe and the trash and pollution make it one of the dirtiest cities in the nation. You get arrested for using more than 5 gallons of water a week and the whole freeway system is either under construction or a traffic jam or both any time of the day. Wyoming may be desolate, but at least they can breathe and wash their cars with water!

Had a PM from Boozer. I guess I was way too defensive. Every state has it's qualities. If I had my druthers, I'd live in Wyoming in the summer and Arizona (on the river), or southern Texas, in the winter. I objected to a post dissing my state, as I would have, if I lived in another one. None are perfect. But the west is best.

Wyoming is the least densely populated state in the US. And there's a lot of natural beauty there. Maybe you've heard of the Grand Tetons? (Big Boobs)
Sure it's cold in the winter (there and about 40 other states :D ) but it's a beautiful state with clouds and skies that you won't see many other places. It's a great place to visit for sure.

Wyoming has some of the nicest people I have ever met. My buddies and I were on a road trip and pulled into Jackson Hole about 11pm. Tried to find a hotel, no luck. The entire town was booked. No problem, we have a truck full of camping gear. Go to Taco Bell for some grub. Two good looking girls notice our Cali plates and ask us what we are doing. They tell us we can camp just out of town. Bitchen. So they show us where to camp, have a few beers with us, as well as some sexual favors. I guess there isn't much to do in Jackson Hole if you are a local. So, like I said, some of the nicest people I have ever met.:D
