Got a 455 in my "new" boat that had a busted dipstick tube - got the old one out and I've got the new part - Anyone got any helpful tips how to "drive" that tube in, looks like it's made to be an interference fit, just not sure of the best way to install? Thanks for any help!

Hammer gets my vote. Thats what i used with a punch to push it in.

This post reminds me that my dipstick tube is loose I'll need to secure it somehow. I'm using one of these Ebay Billet deals (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7904864215&category=38657&sspagename=WDVW)

Put the tube in the freezer for an hour or so and get a block of wood..make shure the hole in the block is clean then I put a lobral dose of Lock Tight on tube and drive into block with hammer.

P.S. do not hit tube with hammer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What if the hole is so big the tube just slides in & out "she's a little loose"

chuck the tube up in a vise and take a center punch and flare the tubing out a little . then loc tite it in . make sure the hole is clean before you stick it in :p
or buy another dipstick theyre not that expensive .

Maybe Locktite "Sleeve retainer" would work
