Wish I was there, got stuck with the kids (3) while my brother went out to find a truck to haul his new 5th wheel behind. Well now I got a place to stay in Parker at least. And I got to see the new Garfield movie :frown: wasn't so bad had two retarded guys in front of me to keep it interesting. Soon my bros 5th wheel will be darkening my door step, until he takes it to Parker for the summer.

Anyone know what the true story is about the boat getting wet? I was out there and heard a bunch of different rumors, but nothing true. Who knows what actually happened?

according to the passenger, they came around the buoy, hit a wake as he was hitting it (did almost a 360), and went straight up, then that was all she wrote.

Irvine lake is usually just a fishing lake, but Dave opens it up about 2 times a year for V-Drives, you can usually find out about them a few months before on the V-Drive forum

This Boat put on a great show. He was the only boat out there for a while and he made some nice passes. He even spun it out for us in the turn. I think he is lucky he didnt stall it or else this boat may have gotten wet also.

That was my cousin John's boat. I saw the pics that dmontzsta posted this morning. I was sitting here saying "damn, that looks like John's boat (Flat Happy - I stole his boats name), what the hell happened?" I go call him and sure enough it was his. He and his girlfriend (I think that's where the relationship is at) are doing good. He said she sprained her wrist, but otherwise ok. He said he wasn't sure which one was tougher - she or the boat :) . According to him they came around that bouey and he was coming out of it with the throttle pinned. A wave from another boat(s) came over the boat. He said it barrel-rolled. I think they were thrown from the boat before that. Cell service was scratchy..
The boat will live to see another day. He drained all the water, cleaned up the carbs, and poured diesel fuel into the motor. He needs to check the gas tanks for water, and figure out if the distributor is shot (probably so). He'll drain the diesel fuel, pour in some oil, and attempt to fire it up this evening. Most likely we'll be out at Kings River this weekend. He said there was no damage to the boat hull.
At least they were OK. Boats can be replaced.

glad they're ok. I know by the time we got over there things were just starting to quiet down a bit. As I was leaving I saw they had it trailered and I walked over there to look at it and didn't see any visible damage...they were lucky...

Yep, that's what John told me as well. If it had happened at full speed, a different outcome would have resulted. Good that everything turned out for the better. I talked to his g/f shortly afterwards, and she was asking where the pics would be posted, I told her here and she said that she'd stop by the site to download tonight. It is a good thing he was wearing his jacket, saw a lot of people in the morning that weren't, then right after that, it seemed everyone was....

Talked to my cousin John last night and he got his Sanger (the one that flipped Sunday) running again. Didn't take much. Only thing he did additional than what I've already posted was add water-separator to the fuel tanks. Put fuel in the carburetors bowls and it fired right up. The distributor was undamaged. The tach, and rest of the gauges are shot though. Looks like we'll be out at Kings River this weekend :cool:

I called the lake, he said they have a few left, now I just need to find some time to get them before this Sunday. Maybe he will cut a deal since they are leftovers, if I buy a couple. :)

I think he ment me. Boat wasn't there becuase its going to camp far west, actually it left last night early this morning. I wouldn't of had enough time to get it ready to go again if I would of run at Irvine. If they have anotherone this year I will go.
