Do you folks know how many years I've been hearing "The lakers don't get the calls" and "We lost but it was the refs fault for the bad calls" by members of the Lakers and their fans? Man, I'm so tired of hearing that. Shaq gets more calls going his way than anyone in the league yet he still can't sink a free throw. He also creates more fouls than any other center in the league, but they are not called. If a defender has his feet stationary and planted, and shaq just drops his shoulder into the defender and knocks him back, shouldn't that be a call against shaq instead of against the defender? One would think so but that is not usually the case. Quit worrying about the fouls and making excuses and play the Game!
Look, the Lakers are a good team, but not a great team anymore. The Lakers have 2 consistent scoring threats....that's it. And what has happened is that Detroit has taken at least one of them out of the game during the whole series. 1 man isn't gonna beat a whole team...
Even the 1 game that the Lakers won, it was at home and Detroit took them into Overtime. Sorry folks, Lakers are done, Detroit is the New champs, and the Lakers need a big restructuring during the off-season (and believe me, it will come). There is too much Ego in the Lakers organization, and too much me me me. Basketball is a team sport and if the Lakers could learn to play as an unselfish team, it may take them back to the level that they once were. But the only way that is gonna happen, is by getting some new players, getting rid of some of the current ones (I see Kobe Leaving after this year), and quite possibly even replacing the coach. Time will tell, but I know of at least 1 of the Lakers owners is pretty upset with Phil right now...Magic Johnson didn't say too much good about the situation the other day.
It should be interesting and funny to hear the excuses after the series is over. After everyone is done complaining and pointing the finger at everyone else, get back to work and improve the team. And personally, I have always thought that the Payton/Malone thing was a mistake from the start.
RIP Lakers, and better luck next year.
