View Full Version : oil pan dilema...

O.K. here's the problem, apparently i have an oil leak from my oil pan, somewhere near the dipstick. I have a 10-12 qt gold anodized pan that i am told runs 695 bucks!!! above this little revelation, i'm also told that labor will be 800.00 to pull and flip the motor...AAHHHHHH....... does anyone know anything about my dilema...good mechanics in the 909 or 760! nothing like a 2000 dollar oil change:mad:

Phat Matt

You can buy lots of quarts of oil for $2000. I say let it leak in the bilge and add oil till you sell it! Or maybe try some duct tape. ;)

ahhell
06-14-2004, 06:47 PM
believe it or not, Richard (the mechanic) at ultimate marine said pretty much the same thing...watch the dipstick and add as necessary, preasure is good and only loses about an ounce an hour...good for keeping mosquitoes down:) J.B weld was mentioned...i prefer duct tape:D I'm thinking in the off season, taking to my buddies shop and doing it myself, not my first oil pan, just my first boat

Yeah, Why you #@$$#!$&&^(#&^@ WHY DID YOU MAKE THE BOAT LEAK OIL!? Funny how everything that goes wrong is our fault and things that go right are somehow because of their divine intervention! Good luck man... ;)

One of those absorbent pads in the bilge changed every trip or two should take care of it until you can fix the pan... THey give those away up at Folsom Lake a couple of times a year to keep people from pumping oily bilges.

Bob, you know the guy that sold ya the boat? Did you talk to him?

Phat Matt

Now that I think of it, you could just through some kitty litter in the bilge and scoop it out. Make sure it's that stuff that clumps good though. :)

I think when i get it back i'm doing some investigating. it only has 73 hours, but i was told the weld at the dipstick was bad, and its a 10-12qt pan, gold anodized...shit, im taking that off the boat and putting on my Camaro

I'm kinda changing it......I thought if two families shared a dinner each night, then we all only have to cook once. The thing is I have to share with Linda (they don't have e-mail) Sheri will share with her friend, so you guys would share with Kelly. Is that ok?
(and no going out for your dinner, we are doing that Sunday/or the last night, what do you think?):D
Please save my avitar in your ***boat image center so I can upload it.
Thanks!
