What performance gains can be had by changing the nozzle size? I have 3 inserts for my jet and I know that the one in it is 3.250 and I have a 3.000 and a 3.125. Whitch one does what?

I think the best size is 3.125 for your boat.

well, i've got 8 of 'em (or is it 9, i lose count). anyway, i agree with brent, but you might give a 3.0625 a try if you get a chance. 3" is really small, and will keep your intake packed pretty hard, but you tend to lose a little on the top end (i lose a lot).

I know with place diverter they are color coded, and they make three colors (sizes) I have the red one. does anyone know what size that color would be ?

From Place's website:
Color Coded Inserted Sleeves
3" Violet
3-1/16" Turquoise
3-1/8" Red
3-3/16" gold
3-1/4" Black

Does anyone know the inner diameter of the stock place diverter nozzle? My calipers would not fit to take a measurement.

I was told that if wanted to run mine at 3-1/4". Just pull the ring because the nozzle was 3-1/4"

If I am not mistaken the inner diameter is 3-1/8.
Same as the Red insert.

Thanks HD. Can I get a second on this. I was thinking of changing to the FTN and going with the red (3.125). But If I'm already there:confused: I'll have to re-think my options.

what i experienced was that the stock pd race nozzle was -sort of- 3.125 in diameter. i did pick up performance just having it machined out and going with the 3.125 insert, most likely because the insert is actually round, and relatively accurate in it's diameter. i've also found that 3.125 is nowhere near optimum for performance purposes.
having said that, that diameter ok. just depends on what you're doing, and if you're looking for additional performance.

Thanks for your response BP. I have a perfomance tunnel and of course looking for every opportunity to gain maximum performance. I don't ski with the boat, just an avid perfomance boater. Could you share what size nozzle has worked best for you? And did the smaller sizes hurt or benefit the hole shot?
