i got an interstate in my diesel benz and if i try to start it in january after sittn for 7 months it fires right up! this is after buying the car with it in ummm ...4 years ago? great batt. i had one in a troubled van that would crank and crank and crank. i dont like exide.

I also had problems with Exide the batteries that I used in my boat I they had the Pro Comp label but were definately exide. I'm now using a Optima 34M & a Pro Comp Marine Deep Cycle that held up (one out of 4 different batteries turn out ok so I kept it)

Optima... I used to work in a battery shop... can not go wrong with Optima.... High amp and no acid to worry about, hell you can mount it upside down if you desire.

Optima- Get them at Costco for a pretty good break. Red top for the cranking battery and Blue or Yellow for the equipment or sterio.

I would recommend the optima Blue top with the light grey case.

I've had 4 optima D31M's (big blue tops) in my boat for 3 years with no problems. There is a guy on Ebay that sells them for $175 with free shipping or in my case $150 ea picking them up in anaheim, ca. either way this a fantastic price on the biggest optima batteries made...Throwerb

How does the Optima do in the off season. Do you have to take it out of the boat if your not going to use it for a few months and charge it or does it make it thru the off season.

Optima says no more than .5 volt loss over a 6 month period. that is pretty incredible.

So are we all in agreement that Costco is the best place for this purchase?

Costco is the most convienent?? spelling?? and quickest place to buy at a great deal... you might find cheaper... but the time calling and driving makes the Costco buy better.... I never charge mine and have had one in a car that gets started maybe once every six months if that.... and it always cranks over....

auto zone and oreilly both sell them in this neck of the country also. the price for the 980 ca red top is $119 at both stores here. I do not know how this compares to costco. I know the same battery at Interstate was $130 here. I did alot of comparison shopping;) unfortunately I do not shop at costco so I have no idea what their price for the red top is.
