an off topic question:
can you paint aluminum (poshished) wheels, will the paint even stick ?
not a Boating question but I thought you guy's would know.

They will have to be prepped and scuffed up before the paint will stick.
If a paint person chimes in they will let you know what other steps I left out.
But yes they can be painted.

We have this stuff called alumaprep [sp] used on the surface before the paint goes on.I'll see tomorrow what this stuff is exactly:)

you need to use an etching agent. that way you wont need to sand anything and be ready for primer. make sure you use an aluminium primer. just a thought , is the surface thats polished clear coated? if so then you will need to sand the clear coat a little. no etching agent needed. but i would get rid of the clear coat entirely and etch and prime. best way.

JBB on other site more than answered my question.
what I've got is a set of used rims that someone cleaned with Chrome Cleaner & it etched the Aluminum. now I'm looking for a Polish to use as the Paint route was to techical for a Rattle can...
