Here's the situation.
I found this car on Ebay that I really wanted. I am currently the high bidder on the car but to ensure that I got this car and wouldnt be outbid I contacted the seller directly and arranged to buy the vehicle outright for 2200.00. My friend went down to the dealershipfor me today (I had to have my friend do it because the car is in L.A.) And gave the seller a deposit of $750.00 for me.
Well.. The auction is still going! There's like 2 hours left on the auction and I could still be outbid! Right now I am the ccurent high bidder with a bid lower then the agreed to price so if it does end at that price then I am going to only pay the seller the amount of money the auction closed at. However, what can I do if someone decides they want this car more then I do and goes bid crazy on it in the last 10 minutes of the auction. This guy already has my money and my friend has receipt stating that he gave the guy $750 deposit for the car.

Sue him . If he accepted deposit on this car, its yours. If he sells it to someone else sue him for the price of the vehicle, plus expenses....then shoot him:D.....dont shoot him, j/k

You should have had him end the auction early.

He was suppose too. 1 hour till auction ends. I'm still the high bidder with a bid $300 lower then the agreed price. If I dont get outbid then I get the car for less then planned because im only going to give him what the auction ends at. If I get outbid then I don't know what I'll do but I'm sure I can take legal action against him since he already collected a $750 deposit.

You're kinda screwed since Ebay changed how bidding works on cars. Here's what I'd do though. Snipe your own car (put in a high bid at the last second). Send him an email RIGHT NOW stating he should have ended the auction when he agreed to a sale price, and the auction is null and void. What's he going to do? Report you to Ebay? Reach down, grab 'em and lay him away. He shouldn't have made a deal with you in the first place, but since he did, make him sorry he did.

PS- if he tries to jerk you on the sale, report him to Consumer Affairs, and DMV. He an idiot to risk his license over $2200. Don't YOU be an idiot (and screw yourself) over $300. You can't have your cake and eat it, too.

Well... The auction just ended and guess what? I'm getting the car for 1898.00 Called the seller one more time and told him the auction didnt end early he told me to put in a ridiculously high bid and make sure I win. Worse case scenario the car would be mine for no more then 2K because of his mistake and if it ended at the 1898 he'd give it to me at that price.
So it's my car for 1898.00

Not much of a looker but that's not why I bought it. It's in immaculate condition at has this under the hood

This little 4 banger is capable of putting out 400 hp to the wheels and be daily driver reliable. I had a 95 Eclipse that making about 375HP and it got 25 mpg. So the gas mileage is going to be nice with all the driving i do. It will only cost about 5K in mods to get this sucker into the 400HP ball park. I already have several parts on order for it.
So if you ever see a little red laser and want to race it get use to seeing this

Congrats on your new car..........but I have a question.
You bought a car for $2000 and are going to spend $5000 to "soup it up"?

It makes sense.
If I spent 5K on the car I'd have only had 2K to soup it up. See the logic?
It seems silly I'm sure. But smoking a guy in a $60K corvette in my $2K laser is a feeling that is simpley priceless.

Congrats on the new car. How do you change the fuel and timing maps to work with the new turbo? Seems like you're going to have to do some serious tuning on the dyno. Was that car turbo'd from the factory?

The car comes trubocharged from the factory. I think the factory setting is 11psi. The stock turbo and intercooler set up can support about 18psi on pump gas and 20psi on 104 octane. Once I start the mods I wont run anything less then 100 octane in it but I can get 100 octane right off the pump out here. With the bigger intercooler and turbo I will be able to run 25 psi detonation free with the 100 octane
Dyno tuning helps. But I try to avoid the dyno as much possible since the local dyno is $65 a pull. There are several aftermarket devices available that will alter the fuel and timing maps for me. I will be running an Apexi S-AFC to control my fuel curves. It allows me to richen up the mix and lean it out where its needed. The goal is to tune to .92V on the 02 sensor and get the EGT's running right around 1450 degrees.
The particular set up on the car is going to require bigger fuel injectors and a bigger fuel pump. From the factory it has 440cc injectors and I will be installing 660's.
Due to the fact that the current motor has 126K on it it wont be seeing more then 22psi of boost. However, I'm ordering a race block and race head over the next couple months that will be able to handle about 32psi at the strip.

Cool stuff. The future of high performance anything is in fuel injection...keep us posted on the progress and processes you use to make it work.

My dream project car is a 68 Camaro. Fuel Injected twin turbo'd 454. But 3K just for a rolling chasis makes it out of my league for now.
BTW this is what will control my fuel maps.

The factory ECU does an aqequate job with timing for the most part so I'm not going to tinker with it until the ECU cant keep up.

1450 degrees. DAMN !!!! On my Powerstroke they recommend not over 1250 pre-turbo. I run a post turbo guage and stop at about 1100. Is this 1450 only short runs only or sustained driving?

If you find a 68 for 3k jump on, it if possible! I was looking for a 69 but same problem...rust bucket 3-5k.

good luck on the turbo project, sounds fun

Congrats on the new car Boozy but...
1. Your car won't be a $2K car, it'll be a $7K car
2. If your car has FWD (front wheel drive) then the only thing you'll be smoking is the tires against the Vette
3. If you do smoke Vettes it'll only be on the straights - that FWD car won't handle well enough to win on any curves.
4. If it's AWD then you'll have a chance but you'll be spending more $ on suspension, tires and wheels, etc. And then you'll be driving an AWD car that you'll need to KNOW how to drive around corners (not as easy as it sounds).
Enjoy your car but don't make a habit of taking on Vettes unless it's a straight-away and you know what's under the Vette's hood.

Froggystyle

Make no mistake about it... a 7K Eclipse (Plymouth or otherwise) is no way, no how smoking any vette, modified or not, that I have ever owned or driven. Period. Vette's have big engines, big tires, great suspensions and wonderful power delivery. Newer ones like mine have traction control and active handling to make them even better.
Now there are full drag Eclipses with slicks and monster turbos, in addition to a hundred other mods that will put them in Vette range, but you will not see them on the street.
I think Boozer may have seen "2 Fast 2 Furious" a couple too many times... ;)
Nice car though, but it pains me to hear the buffoonery being spread about "Vette Kills" with imports. The only way that happens is if the Vette doesn't know they are racing.
So... next time you "smoke a 60K Corvette in your 2K Laser" you may want to see if the guy in the Vette, still at the light is "just shaking his head" ;)
Froggy"justshakingmyhead" style :p

by the time that little rice burner gets over the turbo lag the vette would be LONG gone. american v-8's have something those little 4 bangers don't. LOW END TORQUE:cool:

Well, that's a little harsh maybe... but I am in a similar boat I guess.
I am wondering exactly how much money is going to be saved on gas after having to dump 100 octane in it all the time.
As I said before though, nice car Boozer. It looks clean, and is probably a smoking deal, but I would be a little less cavalier with the Vette comments.

RD Dyno is pumping out lots of Vette killer imports.
I'm with Froggy as I hate those fockers too but some of the stuff I see them doing is pretty impressive. I'm thinking they have over 7K invested though.
