Have a slightly modified 350 chevy (bored over .030, better 270 Comp cam, Edelbrock RPM peformer heads and intake, and a 750 Double Pumper) with MSD ignition electronic ignition. Hopefully somewhere around 390 horespower.
What should I set ' initial ' timing and ' advance ' timing at ?

On my old SBC...those heads seemed to like 18 initial and 36 total- all in by 3,000 RPMs.
I think it was the purple springs?

Forgot to mention running an alpha stern drive - need to idle so as to be able to shift. Thanks for all help

I dont know how big your cam is but i had to add MSD's shift retard to a boat i installed an ingine in. It would not idle low enough to shift with out it. The shift retard box plugs in to the MSD and odd fires the cylinders only during shifting. It works great.

What type of ignition are you running?

The ignition for the setup is the pro - billett MSD setup (electronic) , not exactly marine approved. Thinking that 18 initial is pretty aggressive ????
Thanks for all the help
