Does anyone know when chevy plans on changing the body style on the suburban. I thought that I heard that it was to change in 2005?

I was down at the GMC dealer yesterday and I asked when they will be releasing the Yukon XL in the diesel option. The sales manager said that they have no knowlege as of this point in time if/when it will be released.

The problem that is holding up the Duramax/Allison in the suburban is the fact that the Allison is too big to fit in the tranny tunnel. They compensated for this in the HD models by adding a body lift.
On a different end of the spectrum, the demand is so great for this combo in the Chevy/GMC HD pickup lines, that to add two more lines, being the 'burb and the Yukon, that it would create one hell of a shortage all the way around.

Saw a picture of the Tahoe with the new body style yesterday. They said it was an 06, Sub should be up next.

Bohica, Where did you see this. I need to do something soon and if it looks like its worth waiting I will. Especially if the Duramax is an option.
Thanks

Confirmed awhile ago that no diesel will be available due to size and demand(in the trucks is too much). The new body style wasn't made for the tranny either. So do the right thing and buy an Excursion.

G.M. was going to do a frt end only change to the Subs/Tahoes in 05(similar to what they did with Silverado 2 years ago), but they decided to go with more changes and wait until 06. As far as the Duramax goes my rep has told me everything from Allison compatibility problems, to demand issues, to whatever excuse G.M. comes up with that month. When they introduced the Duramax they told all the dealers that there would be a Sub avail the following model year after introduction, and they had validated the application. So who knows wtf happened.

Without the diesel forget about it. I can't believe i hear the same romour every year about the burb coming with a diesel. I gave up about 4 years ago and got rid of my old suburban(What a dog). To bad because I would have been in line to buy one for sures!

I gree deano.
I am looking at '05 Denali's right now.
Sure not gonna buy one with a body change coming up, and I would be ALL OVER one with a Duramax/Allison.
They need to get busy on that one.

I think they are trying too hard to be a cross between a H-2 and a Nissan Titan. The whole squared off, bolted wheelwells thing will look like shit in 5 years. I have a Yukon XL now but I think the GMC crew 4x4 Duramax with Allison is my next ride and I can propably get for 5-10k less than another Yukon.

Summer Obsession, When do you get your boat back?? Are you gonna be the only dude with a DCB in Kansas??
The Demand for the suburban would be huge if it had the Diesel. I understand Jordys input though. They would probably have parts shortages if they were to come out with one.

that concept above just reminds me of the excursion... doesn't mean it will ever reach production.

the new Tahoe/Suburban will be out in 2006 and the pickup in 2007 this is straight from the horses mouth. (GM's CFO is a family friend).

Is the Duramax/Allison a option in the Sub?

Hey Deano. The cat is in Kansas.;) It's having a bit of culture shock at the moment, but we'll work through that.:D :D
From what I am told, this will be the only DCB cat at Lake of the Ozarks. And there are a crapload of boats there! I guess someone has a 28 vee, but that's it around these parts.
The local boys are in for a shock when they see this bad boy!
Hey, I saw some of your clothing at the store in front of the Agave Inn, but they were closed and we didn't get to buy any!  We had a long drive ahead of us and didn't stick around too long.:(
