I believe that boat is a Riva. Not 100% sure though. If it is, they are made in Europe. Big $$$. From what I have been told, Rivas are easily in the $200k mark for boats 25 and under. Their bigger boats can go upwards of $1 mil. Also I believe that there is a 2-3 year lead time on custom orders. :220v:

I wonder what that thing weighs. I bet it is a tank. So it is a manufactured boat? Still pretty cool. I would guess it was 28' or more.

That is a copy of the original Alpha Z designed by Michael Peters.

Not a Riva. The original AlphaZ was a one off comitioned boat. I read someware it was in excess 3 Million to build. And Peters was also paid not to build another one ever for anyone else.

The price on the boat that was in the lobby at the LA boat show was not
$225,000 and that is the same boat or one exactly like it. It was in the $729,000 price range. I know it was less than $750,000 but more than $700,000 and for some reason $729,000 sticks in my mind. That came with
a twin turbo Carson Brummett or Gary Teague motor too. Can't remember
for sure but I stared at it every day coming and going to the show.
What an incredible boat. The hulls were being made somewhere in southeast
asia and then being sent to the united states for rigging etc.

More info on the original one
Alpha Z
A Marriage of Old World Craftsmanship and State-of-the-Art Engineering
Van Dam Wood Craft completed the 31 ft. Alpha Z in the fall of 1998. From her curved mahogany lines to her custom fabricated drivetrain, she is the epitome of craftsmanship and engineering. Designed by Michael Peters yacht Design, the boat is a stunning example of the level to which wooden boats can ascend.
In typical Van Dam style, Alpha Z is built to the highest standards in modern laminated construction. The 3/4" hull bottom is double-planked with two layers of Okoume plywood. The third skin is Honduras mahogany, hand selected for both grain pattern and color.
A custom fabricated windshield defines the front of the cockpit. Its compound curves are made from a double layer of 1/4" glass. There is no frame of any sort, and it is held in place by a fiberglass retaining ring under the dash.
From a distance the dash looks as though it is painted, but on closer inspected the grain comes through the dark stain, and reveals a single piece of hand-carved mahogany. The center console houses a t.v. monitor, stereo display, switches for the boat's operation, and storage. The cockpit sides sweep back into custom fabricated leather seats. In the front the seats were placed in a polished stainless steel frame. They are power actuated to adjust for comfort, and their backs swing down into a dining and beverage tray.
The floor of the cockpit is covered with both varnished mahogany and stainless steel perforated plate. Directly underneath are bladder tanks holding 110 gallons of fuel. Getting to the engine compartment is easy. A single push of a button will lift and roll back the engine hatch. A second push will close it.
Alpha Z is equipped with an exquisitely detailed 572 cubic inch fuel injected offshore V-8, custom built by Keith Eichert Power Products. As with the construction of the boat, the showcase engine istallation required an extremely high level of engineering and attention to detail. Every item attached to the engine block itself was custom engineered, fabricated, and mirror polished by Van Dam Wood Craft for this specific installation. A notable example of this level of detail is the total lack of rubber used in the engine's installation. There are no hoses. All external lines were fashioned by the Van Dam crew of bent, welded, and polished stainless tubing.
The entire induction system was specifically cast and fabricated by Eichert to allow sufficient clearance between the engine and the boat's ultra low deck centerline. This is no mean feat considering the engine produces in excess of 800 horsepower with natural aspiration.
Sending the torque to the Arneson drop box is a Huber Marine 950 transmission modified by Tom Huber to incorporated his new experimental soft-shift technology, which does away with the abrupt shift engagements normally associated with high-strung racing engines.
Fuel and spark controls are handled by an EFI Technologies digital control with a matching LCD dash display and built-in data logger. By connecting the Electronic Control Module to the boat's lap top computer, critical engine functions and performance curves can be monitored and adjusted if necessary.
According to Van Dam and his crew, this boat was a "once in a lifetime" project. Each person contributing his talents to the building of the boat was challenged, and all grew as craftsmen because of it.|top|

No, I want to make it to Havi someday. We use to go there when I was a kid as I grew up in SD and spent many weekends on the Colo river/Blythe area. That would have been the early 80's. I've heard it changed. I should go sometime when I'm at Powell. It would make a long trip though. Is it kid friendly? I've got a 3 year and 5 month boys. Maybe a couple of years.

Believe me, these are 100x harder to build than a fiberglass boat. You can make zero mistakes on these things. If a mistake happens, it costs thousands of dollars to fix it. Also there is nothing "standard" with these boats. Everything has to be custom fabricated. I now know why people get over $100k for a base 20' boat. The man hours in them are EXTENSIVE. Most people build these out of a labor of love and really don't expect to make a lot of money. They do it because it is a challenge and fun. :)

CD'A hasn't changed much. The river at Post Falls is nothing but big spendy homes. Carlin hasn't changed. Arrow point use to be the hang out. It was torn down and is getting a total redo. I hear it is really impressive. Cedars is still there and has great food. Look me up. I always need more drinking buddies. Are you bringing a boat? August is great on CD'A!!

I love the Steak and Tiger Prawns from WL. Nothing like a smoked steak cooked over an open pit. I know Johns boat. He is friends with my old neighbor's that built a big ol' house on the river. Thier taxes went from 30 to 60k a Year! Property values are really going up here.

Did it last weekend without the honda's on. That chip sure does make a difference. Sent it back to Banks to get it reflashed as it was causing some PCM problems. I put another one in it for the time being. Had a spare Banks with a different program. The chip did seem to cause the problem. I assume you have talked to Mike. It was built by Van Dam Wood Craft and designed by Michael Peters.
Its their Alpha Z Model.
http://www.vandamwoodcraft.com/frames/alphazindexmm.html
Fortunately, this boat has absolutely nothing to do with Van Dam Wood Craft.
The individual that built this tried to copy the Alpha Z that Van Dam built and gain the impression of value that the Alpha Z has.
Originally, like two years ago this boat was sitting in the lobby at the LA Boat Show with a different outdrive unit.
This boat distracts from the quality that Van Dam built as Van Dam is a pure perfectionist company.
Check out Van Dam's web site http://www.vandamwoodcraft.com/
Check out the interior of the real Alpha Z and compare it to the one that is shown in this thread. No comparison.
Van Dam used a different version of the Arneson Surface Drive with a rudder for steering.
