Well the 350 in my 21' liberator is getting a little tired and I think the time has come to get a little extra power out of it.
I am looking for some suggestions on what would be a good combo.
Currently it is a bone stock 270hp king cobra(dog clutch). I need something that will idle well so it can be shifted, but I also would like a new igntion set up as I currently have points.
So if I could please get some suggestions as to what cam, ingition, carb, heads, ect I should look at using it would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Jeremy

Get a 383 Rotating kit, 8.5 compression
Set of 180 Dart Cylinder heads
Airgap intake
Marine 750cfm
Pertronic Kit to covert your point to electronic
Hyd roller 212/216 .470 lift on a 112

IMO dont waste your money on the Pertronix kit. Use that towards a good marine dist. I put one on my boat, if you could get it started it didnt seem to make any difference. One time it would start fine the next time you may run the battery half down then it would finally fire and run fine. Contacted the factory twice, did everything as dirrected, still the same old thing. Now I have a piece of s**t that cost me 100 bucks that isnt even good for a paperweight. BTW the one I have is the Pertronix II.:yuk:

Oh yea, I went back to my points. The boat can set for weeks, back it in the water, pump the throttle once and she fires and runs fine.

I like cstraubs recomondations but I would go just a little bigger in the duration with a 383. I have put about a dozen pertronix kits in marine and street applications, All have worked flawlessly!

I converted my Mallory single point to the Pertronix Ignitor II last year. It has never missed a lick and starts easier to boot.

It kinda depends on how much you want to do, how fast you want to go, and how much you want to spend.
I'm running a GM 350 H.O Deluxe crate engine in my street rod and in my 19' Cobalt, and both work flawlessly. You get a brand new engine that comes ready to run and makes 330hp on cheap pump gas. Scoggin-Dickey sells it for $2389 if you want to re-use your old ignition, carb, etc... or $3498 for a complete engine, air cleaner to oil pan.
If you want to start with the motor you've got, I'd probably get a set of Dart iron heads (they won't corrode and make good power), an Edelbrock Performer RPM Air Gap intake, a healthy cam like the Crane CRN-100052, and a good marine ignition system. I'm running an MSD Marine distributor, which works well but was pretty pricey. If you have through-transom exhaust, keep in mind that too much cam can make the engine suck water, and thats never good.
