Said Day in NHRA Racing - Darrell Russell Fatal Accident

I'm sure there are plenty of NHRA enthusiasts here...
A truley sad day yesterday for all involved.
I saw the accident on TV. At the top end one of his tires exploded and took out the rear of the dragster but he didn't slam into the rail or anything. There was plenty of fire but only for about 5 seconds. It really didn't look all that bad as far as top fueler accidents go.
I guess when it's your time, it's your time.

Yea a very sad day. Safety said something got in to the driver compartment? Truely tragic what a flat tire can do at 300mph.

Me too, I've seen WAY MORE VIOLENT ones and they walk.

I wonder if a piece of frame-rail bit him, steering shaft maybe?
