I just heard this morning that a Mach 34 rolled at havasu this past weekend, and that at least one passenger was hurt and the driver was arrested for DWI. Also heard the boat sustained alot of damage but was able to be towed to the shore.
Anybody have anymore info?

A little birdie (3GO- roving reporter) told me that he thought there was a pontoon boat involved...

I got a second hand call. The word is it was moving at about 100, past Site 6. And turned quickly to avoid a pontoon boat. If true, not too smart to speed ain that area. i know of at least four deaths that have occurred at this location in the pasy few years. I did hear that everyone will survive.

I heard a similar story while I was gassing up the boat at Terribles. Was it a DCB?

There are a lot of different versions on what happened here. I talked to two eye witnesses. Each with a different story.
One said, it happened all alone, like a drive broke, over 100 mph. Driver hurt, the other three passengers ejected, but OK, got back in the boat and got towed to site 6.
Other said, the driver had a PWC cut in front of him at over 100 mph. Made contact with the PWC. same reuslt with the driver & passengers.
So who knows the real story?? Not Me.:D All I know, was I made it back fine. Had a great time, avoided anyplace where I knew it was going to be a crowd. Stayed sober, ready to go back next weekend.

At least on holiday weekends it is. I fear that f things liek this continue you will see some sort of gov't intervention. I know absolutely nothing of the circumstances of this except for what has been posted here but if it is true, 80+ possibly in excess of 100, by Site 6, that does not seem real smart to me. Hopefully the only damage is to the boat/PWC/pontoon as those can be repaired easily, it's harder to repair people.

High speed pass by site 6 is just dumb even on most of the tame weekends.

It's the boatramp at the left side of the island. It's a free ramp and attracts only the most experianced boaters and PWC.

I don't know bro, the water back there is usually pretty nice and it's not usually too crowded. I've seen some SERIOUS high speed passes there. Seems to be "speed alley". Never really thought it was dangerous there as long as you are a good distance from the ramp. But on a major weekend is a total different story. Not smart to open it up ANYWHERE on a big weekend there!

I've got one on all of you. Not only did i see the boat launch through the air but so did everyone on my boat. Had to say this was a heart stopping experience. We were just pulling out of the Islander boat launch and man you could hear the thunderous roar coming!!! Being we were looking directly at the boat from the side we could not tell if it hooked left or right as some reports have stated, like losing a prop or final drive etc. I can tell ya this, he didnt lose an engine because it was strong never missing a beat untill the 2nd flip. You could hear the fuel shutting down with the fluttering of the engines. It rolled/cartwheeled then you could see some dark objects through the massive water spray/splash possibly people or ice chests then it came back down on the water skipped like a rock on what looked like the top deck and shot up again flipping and landing rightside up. This was such a spectacular seen wow! we almost had it on video. before we even saw the boat you could here it coming as we were getting the video out to shoot the boat he was already directly in front of us and then up he went. My first time at Havasu and first time on this site love them both.

oh yeh to that reply of another boat or jet ski being involved. We went out to the site and kept our distance and we could see no other vehicles involved.

Over by Windsor Beach on London Bridge Road. Oh wait, that's Motel 6, nevermind! :p :D
With regard to this Cat flipping, I hope involved fully recovers, and maybe learn something too. Glad they found all peeps, even though (from what I was told) none had lifejackets on. (BTW, I wouldn't expect them too, just stating when you don't and you violently exit the boat at 80-100mph it's very cool when you're found on the surface of the water)
But my question is, how can a cat roll-over and cartwheel, they are so much safer than a v-bottom! Just ask any cat owner. ;) :D LOL

I heard about it today, as I know the guy. Do not know if what I heard was true. Thats why I get on here to find out some of the going ons & events.
I heard he was going fast, A pontoon boat was rounding the corner, ( heard it was about dusk, pontoon had no lights on?) he steered hard to miss the pontoon boat, we all know cats dont steer well at high speeds spun it out, hooked a sponson & rolled the boat.
I heard the driver ruptured his spline.
This is all that I know, it was proabaly 5-6th hand information, and we all know how distorted this can get.
