asking for money! No I didn't agree to give them any ... they ain't gonna frame me for anything! ;) :D It struck me as funny! LOL! Usually you hear of people offering money to the cops! I even offered to put in time instead and was denied! LOL! It's okay if nobody else finds this funny I'm amused it's good enough. :D

There's no need I didn't take the bait ... now they'll think I'm innocent. I mean know I'm innocent. Know.

I give them money every year.
They use it to buy rodeo tickets for kids that can't afford to go.

that wasn't the cops calling, they don't do that. a private company, representing something else calls in behalf of some charity. watch out.

This was fundraising for some program to help keep repeat offenders off the street or something like that. Good cause but I don't appreciate being solicited for money on the phone.

Watch out, some of these "cops" calling are not even from the area. They say the money goes in a "general fund". No thanks, I'll give support to my local fire and police depts. directly.

Exactly. Their from an outside oganization.
They throw around the name police or fire when their not affiliated.

The best thing to do is ask for a number to call them back at, and then call your local police to see if they are soliciting.
A lot of times it is a scam and when you call the police, they will make a report.
Aren't you on the "Do Not Call" list? Or do they not have that up there in Canada?
LOL;)

If they have it Debbolas I'm too paranoid to give out correct personal info on the net anyway even if it would be supposedly to put me on the don't call list. At least the caller didn't call me FM that woulda freaked me right out! My friends call me FM on the phone sometimes but if a stranger called and addressed me that way - yep that would scare me.

And even that isn't true. The PD and Fire Depts. do not EVER solicite by telephone. Deb said it right by saying to call the Local PD...I'll bet you they tell you it wasn't them.
ITS A SCAM, and they try to tug at your wallet through your emotions.
I make it a habit not to give to any phone soliciting charity, because 90%+ are not really helping the charity. I saw a 20/20 show once that showed this guy set up a charitable deal, the real charity got .02cents of every dollar given and then he bagged the rest....
So when you do give to charity, give it directly to the organization you intend to help locally .

My cousin is a cop, and I worry about him everyday, I don't think I could be married to a policeman, I would just worry everyday!
I'm sure there are some bad ones to, like any occupation.
