i'm going to do a search for it but if anyone has a quick link or two, i'd really appreciate it.
i got a short somewhere and my mechanic asked if i could gte the diagram.

You should do it like the old VW's and use all one color. Then write a little black number on it that rubs off in a few years :D

If you use all the same color wire make sure you braid them or twist them or something to make them physically impossible to trace out. General Electric did a twist on that with their off highway vehicle drive systems (trains and mining trucks) all pink wires in their back plane and they are all 18awg and about 4 large connectors with an inch and a half bundle of wires in each of them.
What kind of boat is it, if it is a factory wiring job maybe they could get you a wiring diagram. If not trace it out yourself and make your own.
