I'm getting ready to make some glass tanks for my rayson craft. Any suggestions on what i can coat the inside with to prevent the gas from "attacking" the resin. I was thinking gel coat.Only race fuel will be in it.

I guess I will be the one to ask;
Why glass tanks?
there is nothing you can use if your going to run pump gas ( CA gas is the worst) if you run something with out alky in it you will be fine. other wise get ride of them.
If you race gas you will be OK. It's the pump gas that will eat the glass...

Fiberglass tanks?? you got to be kidding, put aluminum or stainless in you can get them in any shape you want!..
this is going to be a gn boat. my theory is that the glass tanks if installed correctly will act as stiffeners for the floor. I know some people have had problems with the metal side tanks coming loose. I was considering using gel coat unless somebody has a better idea. there will be only race gas in them.
I don't buy that at all, the only reason the metal tanks come loose is because they're not mounted right!.. What do you have, a Raysoncraft??.
yes its a raysoncraft (a 20). I am basically trying to duplicate the way gn9 is set up. it has glass tanks in it and ran well. i like the fact that with the glass tanks they can be set in glass as well as tabbed in stiffening the boat. if i were to set the metal tanks the same way i dont think the glass would adhere to the metal.
I have the 19'6" and I'm putting in aluminum tanks in, you can see it in my profile, go to the site I have some pics on it!..
we have a 20' rayson just like the gn9, but we had problems with our glass tanks after about 15years of racing it, then they started to leak. we now have alum tanks made by imco i think. have had them for 8 years with no problems
