Bravo 1 diesel or gas,what's the diff ?

When I bought my boat I noticed a sticker on the upper gearcase that said 1:36 diesel.I was just looking around on the Bam site and figured I would compare part number's of gas and diesel drives just to see if they were the same drives as I was told by the dealer.Well guess what,the part numbers don't jive!!The diesel drive is also more expensive.Does anyone know the difference??? http://free.***boat.net/ubb/eek.gif http://free.***boat.net/ubb/eek.gif The Bum

I haven't had a sterndrive for some time, but I would guess the diesel drive would have beefier parts in it ,because of the low end torque.

Bum, check out www.mercurymarine.com (http://www.mercurymarine.com) under products... at least I think this is where I saw the info before... but the diesel version is beefier in shafts and bearings. Hope this helps.

WB. Moost diesels opperate at a max rpm around 2000.These drives may be geared more for the high tourqe of a diesel but maybe problems running at our 5000 gasser rpm's.

WATERBUM- THE GEARS ARE MADE BETTER (NET FORGED) BEFORE ALL THE NEW AFTERMARKET PARTS THAT WAS A TRICK TO MAKE THE DRIVE LAST WITH MORE POWER IN FRONT OF IT!
