So now that the Olds is out (check the Spam section..!) and all the misc is in the dumpster, I've been able to really get an appreciation of Halletts and count my blessings that I'm only the third owner- the butchery so often seen in used boats is at a very workable minimum.
Here's where I need your guidance. The 454/T400 is going in and I'm wondering how far down in between the stringers to install the fab'd brackets to bolt to the plates is correct. Is it a matter of leaving 1-2 inches below the pan or is there some geometry involved so the drivelines all come together with 1-2 dregrees of u joint love?

Angle on motor and v-drive must be constant, 1-2 degrees on the driveshaft!..
