All this pole talk has me curious as to how those of you that have them in your boats, how do you have them secured to the deck? Is there like a huge aluminum plate that is glassed into the deck, (to make the deck area more ridged) then the pole collar bolts down to the deck? I was thinking that with the pole swaying back and forth with use, since its not anchored at the top that the base needs to be very securely anchored so it doesnt tear the deck out. Just wondering how some peeps go about this? I have seen pics of a few with cables securing the top but that is just plain ugly Plus it looks like it gets in the way..
