What horsepower is this motor putting out?
Dumb question, but how reliable is it and does it run on pump gas 87 ? or 91?
What fab work and how many hours of labor of install would need to take place in a F-29 that currently has a Viper 625 in it.
Thank you.
BTW, that ANDY01 guy sent me. :)

It puts out exactly 848hp at 6000 rpm with approx 5.5lbs of boost on 91 octane, but 89 will work fine in a pinch. They are super reliable and very user friendly. The great thing is,,,,,,,,,,,,any merc dealer can service it and read the computer. It's awesome. When you are used to it and want to have a little more fun, I have a tune up for the 848 that will bring it up to 925. It takes me about an hour to do, and the labor for me to do it is free! I would bet your F29 will run easily into the triple digits with the 848 set up and probably 110mph++ with that 920 tune up. Plus it will be so smooth throughout the powerband, you will love it. It will put that boat up on plane quick too. As far as the labor fees, I would really need to see your boat and talk to you in person before I could give you an accurate price. I will say, fabrication is going to be minimal because of my motor being so compact. You will need new exhaust tails and quite a bit more prop pitch, Other than that, it's all labor to R&R the hatch/rear seat/drive/motor and install the coolers, strainer, hoses. It would be an installation that even the guys at DCB will admire,,,I guarantee it. Thanks Gary (805)480-2693

Reliability and fun is the key. I would go twin TPI 900's or TPI1000 quads. With a little more porting and some finesse I can make my TPI1000's make over 1100hp reliably. Getting them to 1200-1400 can be done, but it's just not realistic(IMO) if you want to use the boat all of the time. Maybe for a race or two :crossx:
I would keep that F29. That is truely an awesome boat! Any pics of it?

That 848 would drop right in there, No problem. I would also throw some subtle orange/purple to the motor to match it up with your boat. That boat is clean!

TPI , awesome engine .I'd need wings and vertical stabilizer on my boat if two of these installed in it :rollside:

No fab work needed?
What about top of the blower? Would I need to cut a hole in my engine hatch for fitment?

That's a 550 not the 625. :)
Vertical clearance would be my only concern. But it looks like that Ilmore fits in there pretty nice. I am almost certain that the total height of my motor is lower than your current headers, if not VERY close to the same. The closest point would be toward the rear of the hatch, where the throttle body would be. I really need to see it to tell.

That would be cool if it fit without a scoop.
He could have it done over the winter without telling anyone and then pull up beside Killr and get on the sticks!!!
Seeing the look on Killrs face as he put a couple boat lenghts on him would be priceless!!!:D :crossx:
The funny thing is: I even have a 990hp tune up for the exact same motor, you need to run race gas of course, but man will you haul the mail. It's pretty awesome to throw that tune up in the motor for a day and head to the lake(without telling your buddies of course :crossx: ) and open it up,,,,,,,,,,hang on!
There is a lot you can do with these motors, especially when you have a responsible customer that owns it,,,,,,,,,,,it makes it pretty fun when the guy that owns the new motor want's to take care of his powerplant and not abuse it.

Gary what drive would you recomend or what drive would be your preference for this 848?
I have to say I really like the Max machine Worx 900. I run one personally on my boat, and I have run a bunch of power to it with great success. Also, the customer service over there has been so awesome, it's worth the price of the drive. In the same breath, I have a customer with one of my 900's that runs an XR drive, imco lower and a get real performance billet cap on top. He changes his oil every 10 hours and has 70 hrs on the drive. There is NO sign of wear when we have changed the oil. I can tell you that he is very smooth on the throttle and does not hammer on the boat, and that is why it lives. It doesn't mean he does not run the boat fast, he just doesnt drag race it.
One of the things that makes this TPI 848 efi so nice is that it has just enough power to run your boat plenty fast and smooth, and it is not quite enough power to have a bunch of drive trouble(If you take care of your drive). I have a bunch of R & D in this combination and I feel it will please many customers. Especially when they tell their insurance company they only have a touch over 800 hp to thier prop. It's the truth.
Very nice!! clean!!! I also think max machine drive are the best, and there service is top notch!!!!! I have a twin turbo brummet motor in my top cat,the boat runs great!!

I've only heard good things about Max Machine and thier drives & customer service. The drive is only about 5 miles for me. :)
On the note of insurance 800hp @ the prop and can be tuned up to over 900.
Can it also be detuned for insurance purposes and retuned at a later date.
I KNOW I KNOW don't BS the insurance Co.But say if a guy wanted to white lie is this feasable?
Either way that is a beautiful motor! :)

All I can say is this,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,My TPI 848 efi makes between 845-850 hp on every dyno pull. Now,,,,,,,on the low side, I can tune this motor to make approx 775 and approx 750 to the prop. When you order your motor, just tell me what tune up you want, and I will set it up that way, and you can tell your insurance company what you have. You have a TPI 775 efi. If you call me and want me to change the tune up later, I am not going to call your insurance company and tell on you, that is for you to do,,,,,,,right?
In summery, whatever power my motor makes, is what it will say on it when it leaves new, or it wont say anything but TPI efi. Some guys like it that way too. Here is an example:

A new opportunity:
I might be trying some new things with this motor. I am going to put 2+ hours of laptop time on the motor in the boat. I will work out a special installation deal with the new owner for this "inconvenience". :)
Let me know, otherwise I will be using my 28 Bullet.
Lots of inquries,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,I still have it.
