79 Hondo V-Drive Hydro for sale $7,800.00 Turn Key. Motor just broken in by Tom Papp (he did not build it). He estimates it at 420 - 450 HP. 396 4 bolt main. Steel Crank. 10.1 TRW's. Large Oval Heads. New Valves and Springs. Roller Rockers. 550 Lift Cam. Tunnel Ram. Paint is beautiful with a couple of flaws. Right side has gas stains running forward and a couple of chips. Interior is in real good shape. Casale V-Drive (I think 18 gears). Clever Prop.
The back of the transom is faded a little, but can be buffed out (just the black part, the paint looks good). It has a Competitive Trailer that looks good, with good tires. If interested P.M. me with your #.

I don't really want to seperate the motor. But, how about a trade? My boat + $4,000.00 for your running Daytona.
May I ask what kind of speed you are getting out of the stock 454?

I have not yet put the 454 in the boat. I pulled my motor which is a 11:1 468 and the boat was running almost 75 mph at 4500 ft elevation, and way faster down at sea level. When I bought the boat it had a mild 396 in it and was running 60-65 at elevation. I would expect about the same with the 454.
I am asking 13,500 with the 454 and 12K less motor for the boat. I would need more than 4,000 + your boat to make the trade work.

What kind of speeds are you seeing with the 396 in the Hydro?

I didn't have a GPS with me, but probably between 75 to 80 (not over). With this motor, (only 450HP), I need to get some smaller gears in the V-Drive.
