Just watching the news, and because of the storms that we are having, there is worry about the delta levees. Who ever is in charge of the Delta feels that there will be less stress on the levees with no boat wakes.
I don't make this shit up, I just report it.
-
If you're out in a boat today on the delta, you gonna sink! The water is no place to be today.

What a bunch of land lovers!!!!! Check out my kid today at the Frozen Bun Run out on Bethel Island. More guts than a slaughter house.

She is one tough customer. It was about 50 degrees, water was about the same and a 25mph breeze :220v:

Damn Cat I forgot about the Frozen Bun Run. A guy I work with is on the rescue team. I'll keep my thoughts about your daughter to myself!
There was a nice window of weather this morning but that is long gone.....

Gotta love the shot of her peeling past the 5 mph No Wake buoy!

We just got home from the lake, what a day!

Saw the Delta Closed notice on the marina gate in Sacramento where we keep our old houseboat. It's closed till Jan 3 for recreational boating all the way from the Delta to Sacramento. Stayed overnight on the boat New Years eve while tied to the dock. The debris that was bumping and scraping the hull in the current under the boat all night didn't help to get a good nights sleep that's for sure. Water level in the river has come up about 23 feet since before storms started. The resturant (harbor masters office/etc) at the marina sank right before the storms and was sitting in the mud with the top 3 stories above water level then the river went up, here is a few pictures.
Before it sank

Bilgewiper my friend Badburn has a boat at Riverview marina. His boat is margartiaville. It is 36ft carver, what boat is your?
-
"Mother Dog" 36' Gibson..........I've met him. I think I'm about 4-5 slips away. Small world.
-
It is a small world, did you go to dock party for New years? We were at badburns house and watched web cams and did not here any partying going on at all. Was it because the river was so high or just not in the mood? What kind of ***boat do you have? BIG JOE
-
The Marina was totally dead. Actually kinda nice. Took the kids.......watched the fireworks from Old Sacramento from roof of houseboat........good view with river so high and being able to see over the levee. We have a 18' Laveycraft bowrider w/200 Merc.......Not really a "***boat" but it will run 66mph on GPS fully aired out and chinewalking like a mother.
-
thanks Cale. went over to sturgeon and it was 1st time I ever had to walk up the ramp, damn that river is high. that marina office looks sad
-
We have a house on Bethel Island and we spent the weekend there it was really scary to see the water level that high, Our freind's house which is on the water side of the levee was under about six inches of water. We pulled every thing out on Saturday just before the high tide. One of the fingers of our dock got stuck at the high level and was about five feet off the water when we checked on it, We were able to release the dock after breaking the end off the finger. So we have a little work to do but not bad.
BilgeWiper is great to see you still have our boat and it stills looks great.

If you raise the O/B strieght up it will stop walking and may pick up a few MPH.

Pussywupped.....did I hear you correctly? This Lavey of mine used to be yours? Thats cool, because I have question about it that only a past owner would know and I can't figure out. I bought it from a marine salvage company and they either didn't know or wouldn't tell me any history.
Squirtin Thunder........I did go up with the motor on the setback and your right, it helped with the chinewalk and a little free speed. I just can't go up any further without low water pickup and it's not worth it for me considering what I use the boat for.

What a small world! At the top of this post I saw the pic of your boat and wondered if it was pussywuped's old ride. I remember working on that boat in the late 80s and early 90s before he bought his other old Lavey. That boat was very clean and hads alot of nice wood work in it.
-
Pussywupped...sent you a PM
-
Don't think PM's are working....at least it does not show I sent you anything. Let me know.

We have a 18' Laveycraft bowrider w/200 Merc.......Not really a "***boat" but it will run 66mph on GPS fully aired out and chinewalking like a mother.I almost fell out of my seat when i read this :p I used to have a merc 200hp 18' Sidewinder v-bottom that built alot of character, if you could keep it from bucking you out it would go 80 :crossx:then i went to a tunnel and never looked back.Bilge,i want to say i have met you on river before??
-
Stoker2001.........I may have seen you on the river before. There isn't too many air packing outboards out there but I know I've seen a few. I do remember seeing a mean 18' Sidewinder (or spash) prowling the river and Lake Clementine alot, but that was back in the mid 1980's-early 90's maybe. It had a jackplate (which I had never seen before) and relieved exhaust. that boat was green or blue with a Merc............any chance that was you?

-
Stoker2001............My family always kept a boat in the marina at lake Clementine starting in 1971. When I got married in '81 the wife and I kept this 15'10" Sidewinder at Clementine till about '85 then switched to a Wreidt Jet. I was more sure your boat was green than blue......so it had to be you. These pictures were taken probably in '83-84 at Clementine. The picture of the boat turning is where there is now the big camping sandbar........which didn't exist back then.
Ok, I guess we kinda hyjacked this Delta thread.......Sorry!

Ok since this is now the Clementine thread. Stoker2001, maybe you will remember this Wreidt if not the Sidewinder. This was taken around '85-'87 on the "new" Sandbar. We usually had two dogs and one was a huge Mastiff. Sorry if they crapped in your campsite...........LOL! They don't even allow dogs there anymore. No inflatable tow toys and a 40mph speed limit.

I remember seeing the Wreidt, man we are getting old  Do you remember Casey Scalise? He was the baddest barefooter around and would show up at 5:00 AM to train and be gone by 7:00AM.He inspired me alot, and we would foot thru the no ski zone right in front of the boat only access island/sandbar.Those were the days when it wasnt regulated and you could get away with quite a bit.We must have crossed paths somewhere?
-
You going to the LA show

Name is not familiar but, I am bad with names. I am sure we crossed each others "wakes" back in the day for sure. Yea, we also used to ski all the way up to the upper sandbars all the time too. Even remember skiing all the way up to the gravel bar that you can drive down to at upper Clementine both with a v-drive and my dads old I/O. But that was back in the 70's when the lake was much deeper but we could still see the bottom..luckily it was all sandy.
-
Bilgewiper,
I did get your PM, and I just returned one.
Boatmaster,
Yes that was the boat you worked on.

Frank's Tract looked like the fricken ocean today. Pretty big turnout at the Porthole today.
