Well, after much thought...and waiting (24 years) I have ordered my boat as of today.
First off, I would like to thank John West at Ultra, Keith at Conquest and Gene at Howard for all being great people, whom I will always consider great friends, and would be proud to own their boats any day of the week. You've all been extremely patient, always been very helpful and answered my calls and questions for the better part of a year (Gene since I was in college...last 5 years).
I am proud to say the boat I have purchased...drumroll please...
2006 DCB Mach 26
It will feature a 496HO (probably slowest DCB every built), midcabin-cuddy, IMCO single ram steering, front and rear cap with stainless side rail, one off graphics, LED lights, GPS speedo, bluewater indicator, triple axle Extreme with custom wheels, LEDs, and stainless fenders...and a stereo that is still in the works.
Special thanks to Bryan for all your work within the past week, Dave for accepting me into the DCB family, and Charley, Toby and Miguel for making this decision very easy.
I look forward to seeing you all on the water. No exact delivery date yet, hoping for March, but may be a little later. Either way...I am out of the "tire kicking" club...and I have no plans of finding a replacement :) :D
Here are my graphics (no coping...I will sue) :) :) For anyone looking for graphic help, contact the Edukator on the boards. He has been an extreme help to me. I had a few ideas I liked, drew up and needed them "fine tuned" needless to say, they are now better than I ever invisioned. Thanks again Russ for a job WELL Done-- its been great working with you.

I did speak with Charley and I told him that I have NOT received any of this special "kool-aid" Maybe you have to take delivery first to get the "kool-aid" and pom-poms. I guess I'll wait.
Everyone knows I love Howard (and Gene and Mike). They make an unbelievable boat, if I ever bought a sport vee the BULLET would be my ONLY choice :)
Thanks for the good comments.

My prediction... Pat's 496HO will be supercharged by mid-summer 06 :rollside:

A huge congrats! You can't go wrong with any power in a Mach 26. (just don't ride in one with more power and you'll be fine :rollside: ) I remember the night I meet with Dave and ordered my Mach 26 it was probably one of the funnest and happiest days I ever had, I was stoked to have ordered a Mach. The build will be as fun and easy as the order was. You will love that boat, and even more so your family will love the ride and qaulity of that boat. Enjoy and keep us posted on the build!! You can now start the "east coast hater trainning" Charley holds classes Monday Wed. & Fri...........
Oh and cut Charley off at this point, he can only cost you money now.... :)

Oh that still stands 100%, Patrick explained why he is doing , what he is doing and what his plans are for the future. I agree with him.
And on that same note, that last time this discussion happened, the owner called me after about 3 trips and regreats listening to everyone who said the 496 was enough and said he wished he would have listened to me and went with the 525HP.......
Thanks Glen......
-

Congrats Patrick!! Your graphics look great, Any of the manufacturers you shopped would have built you a great boat, but I'm glad to see you joining the Family . Don't worry about being the slowest, I hear that spot is taken by the guy with the oldest single owner DCB. :crossx: I may be old and slow.....but I'm always there. Congrats again, patience and good decisions are paying off for you.

Not to be an ass, but so be it...havn't those graphics been done to death on the Cougars?
DCB does boats the way they should be done, very clean.
Plus I hear all DCB owners grow new heads of perfect hair...that is never out of place. :D
-
So are ya gonna get the Howard Slut tatto on your ass covered up? Congrats man!
Signed,
Jealous
-
Everyone knows that DCB makes an unbelievable boat, just would have thought the Ultra 27' Shadow would have been a tough deal to pass up for the price and size range
-
Congrats Pat, DCB huh?, wow that Kool-aid must be the shiat to get the #1 Howard guy into their camp. Don't know if you've heard, but Eddie Marine makes a bitchin billet cover for that 496 that will make it look really tits :p :) :mix: They can even scribe the DCB logo on it for ya. Again, conrats and see ya on the water.

I heard Mike & Gene are getting a DCB next. :)

Once again I dont know why people think to own a DCB you have to take a bath on money... order a well equipped stock boat with minimal options and a DCB is a very competitive buy! a stock mach 26 with a 496HO is under $90k list! Keep the options reasonable unless you wanna overspend.... which is true on any boat
-
Thanks for all the great congrats and comments.
BIGQ-- not sure about these same type graphics on a Cougar- but you could be right. I'm never seen them. I started with an original idea on paper, one I had never seen, then continued to fine tune it until it reached what I BELIEVE is its top potential. That is what you see above--regardless of who else copies it (or makes one similar) I'm OK because I know this was an original design by myself with the help of the Edukator.
Also, my plans. At my age (soon to be 25) insurance with a single engine cat and over 500 hp is rediculous IMO but necessary. I can't justify spending that money (yet) for insurance. The plan is to boat with this until money is no issue and then upgrade..probably to a twin engine cat. At that point, I'll pour on the power and the insurance premium.
Charley--I agree with you...lay off the huge options and the price is Reasonable.
INSMAN- I agree the Ultra is a great boat and I enjoyed talking with John tons of times, but surprisingly...for everything I want this turned out to be the best deal. "You never know until you ask."

What about the added expense of the hair care products?

Patrick,
I've never seen a courgar either, but I do know that they are original graphics that we put plenty of time into finalizing. I'm glad you are happy with them. That's all that matters.
BIGQ
I've done some designs for DCB so I'm pretty familar with their lines and keeping the designs clean and original. A company splashed one of my designs recently and I didn't find it flattering. I would not want to waste my time or the clients time and money by copying a design.
