Chris,
I will be there the weekend of the 6th and a Merc labbed 28 is my all the time prop. If we can put it together, your welcome to give mine a shot. What RPM are you running now with what prop?
John
Thanks John. I'm running a stock 26 Bravo I and just under the rev limiter, bounced off it with a light load. Trying to decide if I want to get a labbed 28 for the cooler months. The stock 26 is perfect for all around so far, just want to see if I can turn the 28 :D
Thanks again,
Chris

Chris, I can say without much doubt that you should have no problem turning a labbed 28 in cooler weather. I've never been a fan of proping a boat so small as to bounce off the rev limiter. 5150 and a 28, in your boat, would put you at about 78 to 80. What rotation is yours setup for? I can never remember which is which I just know mine is considered counter rotation, RH I think

John:
Yours is LH rotation. I do not recall what is on Chris's.
Chris, I used to run a labbed 28 with my other 27 with the 525 year round hot and cold. You should be able to spin that Merc Labbed 28 just as hard as the stock 26.

I've always loved this design. Looks good on a 26. espeecially with the silver. I'm hoping that one of these days that JW starts using some mixtures of traslucent tinted clears followed by silver.
Just wait until the LA show this year;) You won't believe what I have been working on for the past month.:D You will only see this new process in one booth.

Oh crap this thread is about the a new Ultra.....sorry for the highjack:D
JW can't wait for the LA show this year....Good news is our current project is only 10 mins away...so I think I'll be taking a few long lunches:D

So are we saying that this extreme sweet 26 deckboat is now old school compared to the new ones at the LA show?

Like the idea.. But in the gel world it would not work. You wouldnt be able to wet sand the tinted clear. You would have to spray clear,Spray a Tinted (translucent) coat and then base colors... this would be a very thick gel system and surely not fun for the gelcoater.
But you never know......:)
SHHHHHH John is out of the office for the afternoon but this little project we have started is too big to keep a secret. So here it is the candy man comes to Ultra thats right boys and girls. Candy effect lets put it to you like this the picstures bellow dont even do the true kart justice. Big D was just here to see it and I quote "Beyond sick looking" Its really overcast down here so the true effect is a tad off but still look out LA boat Show the candy store just got bigger.

Looks good... I knew deep down it could be done. The point I tried to make was the translusent clear could not be sanded. Looks like they did it the same way I described. Clear,Tinted Clear, Base. Same way a fade is done. I just figured way to much build-up would be needed. I have been painting for a while and wondered why the gel guys dont get to crazy. Looks like John and the guys are one step ahead.
Its weird when I had my boat done, none of the big builders where doing the flake ( 7 lbs in my boat ) and now everyone is... I guess John is starting the candy trend this year.
