Question: on the ground wire from the dash-Im running 14 gauge wire. No accessories other than gauges. From the block/battery ground to the terminal block should i be running 10, 12 or 14, does it matter?
I was told by a old wise man to use the same wire gauge for ground as your possitive. I also think 14 gauge over 15' (battery to dash average length)will safely carry something like 15 amps, maybe 20 at peak. For a single wire powering a simple dash I would think something like 10 gauge , 12 at the least. You don't see many problems with wire being on the large size.:D Hope this helps.

when I re-wired my Tahiti, I used Berg 7-wire. This is used to wire semi truck trailers. 1 12 gauge wire and 6 14 gauge wires inside, all nicely color coded. I ran an external 12 gauge wire as a ground. These supply power to my fuel pump, bilge, etc, etc. The MSD is wired direct to the battery, and my Holley fuel pump, has a relay which is wired to the battery direct as well.

sorry typo, meant for 20amp.
I just ended up running 8G for my main feeds up front, figure it will support anything else i add up front in the future, maybe a cig lighter socket for misc accessories or a inverter for a tv... who knows ;)
