It stops because he is on a commuter train, stopping at passenger stations to take and let off passengers....:D
Very cool. BNB, it said the camera took almost 2000 pics, with exposure set at 4 secs each, thats how you get the bright lights in stations, and well detailed night shots.

I would say run a very slow shutter speed(this allows the all the darkness to show up better, if you notice when he gets to the terminals the lights appear overwhelmingly bright), and it's recording at a few frames per second at that shutter speed which is why it runs in fast motion on playback.
