Looking for some tips on some "non-chain" family type places to eat in NW Phoenix. How about a mom and pop pizza place with one of a kind pizza or hole-in-the-wall burrito joint etc. Back home Rosa Marias or Juanitas had some pretty good burritos and The Deli at Lake Arrowhead had some good pizza. What are your local favs?

We hit Nino's Pizzeria just about every Friday night. 59th & Peoria, NE corner.

Barbeque - Thee Pits Again at 55th Ave. and Bell Rd. north side of Bell.
Breakfast - The Place (Mike and Rhondas Place) Restaurant at the SE corner of 51st Ave and Bell Rd.
Sushi - Tokyo Lobby at 55th Ave and Bell Rd. south side of Bell.
Pizza - Santisi Brothers at NE corner of 27th Ave and Bell Rd. Good New York style.

Macayo's won't even let you in the door if they know your affiliated with HB.
Thee Pitts BBQ is awesome. If you like Japanese try AH-SO they are located at 75 ave & Bell and also at around 60 ave & Bell. AH-SO has teppan (sp?) tables and also great sushi.
