Can anyone give me some additional specifics (I.E. chamber volume, runner volumes, maybe even cam/intake/carb recommendations?) on my oval port open chamber 454 BBC heads - have the Mortec info, just looking for additional info or a place to find the specs for my heads - casting # is 346236 - Thanks in advance for any help you all can provide!

Chamber volume is 118cc. I'm not sure what the runner volume is.

Here is the setup my Engine Guy suggested that I run with a almost stock 454, Edelbrock Airgap Manifold part # 7561 with a holley 750-800DP, and the cam for the best running and most horsepower is the Crower Part #01243 or a Isky Cam part # 396282.
He has dynoed the bbc with these set ups and found this to give the most HP and drivability without doing to much more inside work.

Thanks for your input, guys - I'm hoping for about 400-450 HP with maybe 9.5 - 10.5 to 1, ARP's in the rods, and possibly a bottom end stud kit - what kind of numbers (HP @ rpm?) did your engine guy see with that combo? (I'm running a JE pump with a bronze/mag A impeller, if that matters) -Thanks again for any insight anyone can provide!

440hp was the average hp and good RPm around 5500.

I don't want to sound too negative, but you really should consider starting with a better set of heads. I don't have my handbooks in front of me, but I believe that the 236 heads are "peanut port" truck heads. They are severely limited in their HP potential, and don't flow well above 4600 rpm. I have a set in my garage that I'd gladly give away. The standard large oval port intakes will not match the peanut ports either. Conventional wisdom says don't waste money on those heads. Find some large ovals instead.
Just trying to save some headaches,
