    Hey Guys,
In the middle of a build down here in Oz.
Boat is a Stephens 19 vee bottom built by Maverick Boats and power will be from a 502 with an 8-71 BDS.
Things are pretty cold down here at the moment but at this stage it looks like early October for the maiden voyage.
I've attached some photos of the build so far.
What's the general consenus for v-drive gearing in a social application?
I've had several different figures thrown at me from 18% step up through to 40%.
I'll be running two props, a three blader for the social stuff and then a two blader for some fun.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Cheers

Your pix don't show any of the hull bottom nor your set up. How much power (and where) the overall weight, and shaft angle. Seats seem to be 'laying back' for a fast V- drive, could hurt your back in rough water. PS, get rid of the scoop! It will not breath enough air to make any REAL POWER.

Hey Bigkatboat, thanks for the reply.
Sorry about the lack of detail in the photos.
I'll rummage some more up and post them after the weekend.
The seats are only sitting in there for the time being, they haven't been fixed in place yet.
Overall weight should be in the 1500 to 1600 kg range (roughly 3400 pounds I think) and we're aiming for about 700hp.
