21' daytona starter problems

I'm starting to hear of a potential problem with top mount starter's on the daytona's....ie, gears not meshing properly, anyone else havivg this problem....if so what was your corrective action. Thanx in advance for your help/advice.

Had problems early on with the top mount rail kit but adjustments hav been made and the problem seems to be solved Greg Shoemaker

I have(had) a top mount starter on my boat and with my old engine (good ole chevy block) it worked fine. With my new engine (merlin block) I'm having big time problems. My solution for now is using a bottom mount starter (mini type). It was a bitch getting it in but it works great. I would prefer the top mount but I'm having a hard time figuring out what's going on with the engine in the boat. Greg... do you know any details on what has been done to resolve the problem.
