What kind of hp gain can I expect from a Merlin 540 if I add a blower?
How often do you havve to rebuild the motor?

Depends on your current setup. Heads, cam, exhaust etc. Also depends on the amount of boost you want to run and what your existing setup is capable of handling. Lastly, the type of forced induction you want to run will have big affect, i.e. roots, centrifical, screw and many more.... Intercooler vs no intercooler...
Rebuild periods are dramatically affected by the variables mentioned above. High boost, solid roller cam deals will require more maintenance and refreshing more often then low boost, hydraulic deals....
Example, I run 2 GT Performance 1070 HP roots blown 572 Merlins with hydraulic rollers and intercoolers. 11 lbs of boost. My motors will require tear down at 250-300 hours, depending on use. If I set these motors on kill, 15-17 lbs of boost their life span would be dramatically affected. Depending on use, could take the rebuild period down to 100 hours or less.

Nor Cal I still have that new 14:71 for sale. never used or bolted to an engine. could be yours to make 900+++HP.. I had the same blower and a 540 that pushed a 7000 pound boat to 120+.....
