hey Fiat, would a nice 2-bolt block with aftermarket forged caps be an option?
LO
I know where there is a few hundred new gen VI blocks. Low decks with 4 bolt caps that are all 4.240 bore so they can go std. bore. New in the crates.
Chris
He's a local racer with an unblown alcohol roadster. I sense he's looking at spending around $400 or close for a block. He's got a 2 bolt as do I but he doesn't want to pay to 4 bolt cap it or splayed cap it. Just the way some guys are. He'll wind up spending the money anyway. I think he is .060 over, wants to transfer all his stuff to another block.
On those Gen VI dealios...what do you have to do to use all the Mark IV heads, etc? Never fooled with one. Never even seen one.
Guess I live in the past. :rollside:
Fiat,
Heads bolt on no problem on a 6 from a 4. Does take different oil pan since oil galley is moved. Takes a composite cover or you can put a gen 5 metal one on. Can use crank, just need to put seal adapter in rear main. Other then that, ready to go.
Chris
i did it too. They are nice pieces. nice and thick and heavy that is!....
heads bolted right up. cam is same if you don't use the retainer.
they take wierd lifters though.
pan and timing cover are different. (pan is "better" I should say)
Chris, how much? Why are they 4.24? not 4.47? were they for 454's and not 502's?
