And how do you refer them properly?

Blown stern drive boats or big geared day cruisers boost ref the power valves in the carbs. The blower draws hard enough to suck the power valves shut. (sometimes) Especially engines that get in boost during cruise. power valves are supposed to be referenced to manifold pressure and not top of the blower pressure.
Let me see if I can find a link to the proper proceedure. You just have to port manifold pressure to the power valve wells.

I have manifold lines run to the carbs...so that must it, eh?

    Are you having trouble?

Yes. Mrs. HH wants to get her Masters, but I don't know how I am going to get off work in time if she takes night classes, not to mention the money.
Also, my son's birthday is the week after Labor Day, but I think I may be out of town on business, and I don't want to miss it.
Add to that I have a golf tournament in a couple weeks, and I have not swung a club in a looong time (I'll probably look like a fool).
Lastly, I can't seem to get the right watering down on my lawn...the low parts are saturated, but the higher parts are dying. To add insult to injury, the neighbors are over-watering, creating "Lake HH" as it runs under the fence into my planter.
    That's most of it.

On the boat, I'm still troubleshooting the idle.

Tell Mrs HH to take online classes.
Fly the family to where you are for the Birthday.
Find some way to get out of the tournament. Tell them that your son's birthday and wife is starting school that day. Even if a weekend.
Put a bilge pump in the low spots and pump it to the high spots. Channel the neighbor's water to the bilge pump. Let him buy the water.

Have you checked the distributor for too light of advance springs?

Is it idleing really fat? if so you may need to drill your idle air bleeds a bit bigger.
