Thread: Remote oil filter plumbing HELP

Can anyone tell me on a stock mercruiser BBC what hose is out from the oil pump, and what line is the return? (or post a picture) I could obviously take them off and turn the engine over to see what one has oil coming out. I am thinking I might have got the lines reversed going into the filter. If the filter has an anti siphon valve in it, and its reversed wouldnÂ’t that stop the flow?

oil flows from the outside in. on your motor adapter the center line is the return, same on the remote filter bracket.

Center line? Is there going to be a line on top of the bracket? I know that sounds STUPID If I look at the engine block it has both outlets Parallel to each other. X__X (x is the 1/2 npf fittings)
one is out, the other must be return. Which is which

I've had two friends that have crossed the hoses on remote oil filters and locked up their engines. I think the best idea is to make the hoses color coded, or two different sizes.
