Congrats!! Are you going to be at the surgery? I thought for sure I was going to blow chunks or pass out but I was amazingly calm. Perhaps it was just shock but I like to think I held it together on my own.

Good luck but you'll be OK. I can't even watch that kind of stuff on TV but I hung in there. Its all over in like 5 minutes.

    Good for you!!
Scream was there for two of my c-sections. They will have a big blue cloth covering her below her chest, so you won't be able to see the "icky" things.
(well, ask Scream, he would know better than me) He was holding my hand so tight during Mary's birth that the doc had to tell him to loosen up a bit. WE were both very nervous.....It's so cool, because your baby comes out all pretty. It is harder on the mother, but safer for the baby. Tell your girlfriend to get up and walk as soon as possible. It will feel like her insides are going to fall out, but they won't and the sooner she gets up and walks around, the sooner she can go home.
We were lucky with Mary, the nurses turned the lights off before her picture, so she actually has her eyes open in her hospital photo. All the nurses were named Mary, so they liked our Mary.
A very cool thing happened at Scotts birth, Scream knew one of the folk in the operating room. They turned the huge lights off afterward and when Scream talked to Scott he turned his head toward him, like he recognised his voice. It was sweet.
    Best Wishes!!
    Deb
