Look what happens when a President gets elected in a year with a "0" at the
    end.
1840: William Henry Harrison (died in office)
    1860: Abraham Lincoln (assassinated)
    1880: James A. Garfield (assassinated)
    1900: William McKinley (assassinated)
1920: Warren G. Harding (died in office)
1940: Franklin D. Roosevelt (died in office)
    1960: John F. Kennedy (assassinated)
1980: Ronald Reagan (survived assassination attempt)
    2000: George W. Bush ????????????
And to think that we had two guys fighting it out
in the courts to be the one elected in 2000.
You might also be interested in this.
Have a history teacher explain this if they can.
Abraham Lincoln was elected to Congress in 1846.
John F. Kennedy was elected to Congress in 1946.
Abraham Lincoln was elected President in 1860.
John F. Kennedy was elected President in 1960.
Both were particularly concerned with civil rights.
Both wives lost a child while living in the White House.
Both Presidents were shot on a Friday.
Both Presidents were shot in the head.
    Now it gets really weird.
    Lincoln's secretary was named Kennedy.
    Kennedy's Secretary was named Lincoln.
    Both were assassinated by Southerners.
Both were succeeded by Southerners named Johnson.
Andrew Johnson, who succeeded Lincoln, was born in 1808.
Lyndon Johnson, who succeeded Kennedy, was born in 1908.
John Wilkes Booth, who assassinated Lincoln, was born in 1839.
Lee Harvey Oswald, who assassinated Kennedy, was born in 1939.
Both assassins were known by their three names.
Both names are composed of fifteen letters.
Now hang on to your seat.
Lincoln was shot at the theater named "Ford."
Kennedy was shot in a car called "Lincoln" made by "Ford."
Booth and Oswald were assassinated before their trials.
    And here's the "kicker":
A week before Lincoln was shot, he was in Monroe, Maryland.
A week before Kennedy was shot, he was with Marilyn Monroe.
    AND......................:
Lincoln was shot in a theater and the assassin ran to a
    warehouse...
Kennedy was shot from a warehouse and the assassin ran to a
    theater...
Creepy, huh? Send this to as many people as you can, because:
Hey, this is one history lesson people don't mind reading...

In 1820 James Monroe was re elected and the era of his 2 terms was known as " The Era of Good Feelings". Of course, he is best known for " the Monroe Doctrine". He lived to be 73.

    What about 1820, 1800, 1780?
No offense to you (I know you're simply posting what you read) but numbers can be twisted to tell most any story.
The stuff about Lincoln and Kennedy is quite interesting but really doesn't offer anything of value in terms (not a criticism just a bunch of irrelevant coincidences).

    There was no 1780 election.
1800 was Thomas Jefferson and as I said above, 1820 was Jeffersons good friend James Monroe.
I guess they weren't mentioned, because they didn't fit the sort of kinda pattern.

Did you know the word "gullible" isn't in the dictionary? And denial isn't just a river in Egypt.
When you look in the mirror is this what you see?

Thomas Jefferson who; wanted to declare pre-emptive war against Britain in 1801. Hence the term "war-hawks"! It took 12 years for it to finally happen under James Madison. The two significant event's from the war of 1812. Francis Scott Key was inspired to write the Star Spangled Banner, a song written to inspire American resolve to remain free (hence why it became the National anthem)! The second Brigadier General William Hull was tried convicted of dereliction of duty, cowardice and treason for failing to uphold his promise (proclamation) to protect the Canadians of Sandwich under the Constitution of the United States, for whomever: “did not take up arms against their American brethren and those that did would suffer the calamities of war!”.
So two Presidents that were directly involved with drafting the original U.S. Constitution, one a founding Father of the document, advocated pre-emptive war and one had a General tried and convicted for failing to uphold our most sacred document after having a pre-emptive war in 1812. Knowing this what would those Presidents think of a President and his party’s members of congress that did not act after several terrorist attacks? What would they think of the President who inspired a unanimous congress decision after issuing his proclamation: “You are either with us or against” and than acted? What would they think of a man a member of congress who tossed his service medals, lied to congress in testimonies about war crimes and believes we must have the permission of the UN before making National Security decisions? Think it’s pretty safe that the founders are calling for Clinton and kerry to be tried for, treason, dereliction of duty and cowardice charges; but they are resting peacefully knowing that George W. Bush is in the White House!
