Stations Preempt '60 Minutes' Expose On Bush Military Service
In other TV news, viewers in multiple markets reported last night their local CBS affiliate opted not to broadcast 60 Minutes which aired a segment raising new questions about President Bush's military record in the National Guard. In Lubbock, Texas the station aired a pre-recorded show for the St. Jude's Children charity and held 60 Minutes until 1:35 in the morning. WTVR in Virginia reportedly aired a special 15-minute weather report at the top of the air that coincided with the portion of 60 Minutes that discussed Bush. WYOU in Pennsylvania claimed the station had transmitter problems during the hour. In Oklahoma, the local CBS affiliate had planned to not air 60 Minutes until 3:15 in the morning but the station caved in following a campaign by the Progressive Alliance Foundation.

I would consider this just as bad if not worse (this was from 9/2):
News directors at most stations said that President George W. Bush's acceptance speech at tonight's Republican Convention windup could be dumped.
"The storm is more important to our viewers and their livelihoods," said WTVJ-Ch. 6 President and General Manager Ardyth Diercks, echoing station officials in the Palm Beaches as well as Miami.

    Sure,
The markets mentioned in your post are catering to a more conservative based population. When a station receives one call on a particular issue they have a formula they use based on the demographics and population size. This formula tells them how many people feel the same as the one caller in that particular market. I do not know the final numbers on each of the markets you bring up but, it must have been big enough for that independently owned affiliate to feel they needed to listen to their customers.
    Clear enough?

It makes sense to me, Kerry will get all the votes from crack addicts, and the crack addicts are up at that time of day. Except ounce again Kerry has made a mistake, because between 1:00 am and 4:am the cranksters are mowing thier lawns or working on cars in the garage.

Perhaps they got the word the story and the documents were obvious fakes. Or perhaps they took it into account that the reasearch on this story didn't come close to even todays dumbed down standards. If they did find excuses to bury it, it was probably just to avoid the embarssasment of being caught with another obvious phony story like the "Kings Market" story or the "exploding Chevey pick-ups" frauds they ran a few years back.
