Thread: Cobra jet boat?

    Are they any good? Looking at a 1994, 21ft? Never heard Cobra before and want to get some feed back on what I should be looking for. To me it kinda looks like an older Ultra with the little 8" tinted windshields on each side.

    Cobra's are a cheap splash of Ultra, go for the original.

    Splash? Im a Glamis guy so I will have to ask what does that mean? Same hull? Someone started a company(Cobra) and robbed their (Ultra) design? Are they any good?

    Hallett, the Cobra Performance boats you are referring to was not, to the best of my knowledge, doing business under that name in 1994. There have been numerous boat companies using "Cobra" in their name through the years.
    SD Mikey, if you can get the Hull ID#, run the first 3 letters through the search engine on this site: MIC Search (http://www.uscgboating.org/mf/mf_srchMIC.ASP)
    This will at least tell you the name of the company that built the boat. It should make it easier for you to get more specific answers to your question.

    From one Glamis guy to another...
    Splash... taking somebody elses hull design, creating a mold around that hull, creating your own hull based out of that mold that was created from someone else's hull without written consent.
    How is that for terminology Boatcop???

    Where it says MSO does that mean they alao made other boats with a different (TSS) code. Its says they changed to SDC? So I guess Its still a splash off of an Ultra?

    This info tells you that the boat was NOT produced by the company currently doing business as Cobra Performance Boats.
    It may or may not be a splash of an Ultra.
    Hopefully someone will be familiar with the manufacturer and will now be able to give you information about the boat. With so many companies out there building boats, some in small numbers for a very short time, getting accurate info can be difficult.

    If that MSO stands for the same thing as it does in the automotive world.....
    MSO= Manufactures State or Origin
