Thread: For those following my rebuild

I have had a lot of help on rebuilding my motor since I pulled it from my boat some time ago. This board is awesome. I am going to go ahead and post the progress of the motor here the rest of the wat until the project is done. Here is where I am at so far. Everything there stays except for the crappy carb that I threw on there to cover up the intake. The paint looks real good except for a few spots that need minor touch ups. It's a motor though so I don't care if the paint isn't perfect.

So, I am trying to mount my fuel pump. What do I need to make this work? I ran an electric with a block off plate before so I don't know if I need to add anything. Here is a picture: http://www.***boat.com/image_center/...83CIMG0475.JPG

There should be some kind of a gasket for it, and that rod you see in the block needs to be pushed up (I usually use an O-ring pick) and then slip the arm from the fuel pump in there and bolt it up. If it won't go up high enough, roll the engine over a bit as the cam lobe that runs the fuel pump is probably lined up to push the rod down.
And I can't tell from that picture, but you want to make sure that the fuel pump push rod is clean and runs smoothly in it's bore.

Nice and clean in there.. I thought that pushrod was connected to the allen plug screw at the bottom.. I didn't even try to push it out of the way. Makes sense now. It's all installed and looks good.
Can someone ID this fuel pump and the glass bowl attached? There is a sign in the bowl that says "replace fuel pump is gas is present in bowl". There are no markings except for AC Made In USA.

That fuel pump looks identical to the one on my 260 (350ci) mercruiser. Just got a new one this summer. Danged expensive.

That is not a performance deal flow is very minimal, also that is not a good way to mount it that will eventually break, I would suggest a good inline filter!..
