The tapered side of the nut is the locking mechanism. Just like a lock nut, not a nylock. Treat the nut as if where just a regular shoulderd castel nut. Flange side toward impeller and smaller side out.

OK I am rebuilding a Berk JF and its my first go around in a complete rebuild.
Just a simple ?? which way does the impeller nut go on
One side has a raised edge like a built in washer, does this help hold the bowl seal in or help out the impeller side
Simple ? just want to do it right the first time.
(should of paid closer attention to detail
 )

Mine berk came apart like a regular bolt. Right hand thread. You'll need the right socket though. The rounded side of the nut goes aft.
(that's the back of the boat). lol
Repeat after me....Lefty Loosie.....Righty tighty.... :rollside: lol
The nut has nuttin to do with the seal. The flat side goes to the impeller. :shift:
I've got some pics and manual pages if ya need. Pm me and lemme know. Did mine and it works tits. I'd never seen the inside of one before.
Peace Man!
