Or, you can tell us what you know and then later Duane can elaborate.
After posting a picture of the Prime-a-Jet I`v had a few PM`s about what it does and how it works. I figured being it`s Duane's Product I`d let him explain.

Ok, Well it bleeds off the air that`s in top of your bowl. It`s automatic so you don't have to do anything. Then when the motor reaches 1500 rpm, it shuts off.
Cool little device. If you dont have one you should get one.

No wiring or houses to install. Just drill a hole and tap, your done.
Would this solve my problem when I first put the boat in the water and start the motor, there is no water in the pump. It takes a little while for it to get water. Can't be good for it.
Yes it will. I had the same problem on my lake boat when I installed a droop.
bottom line on a prime a jet is to burp the air out of the pump when you first launch it the water. got to get me another one for my new boat.

So there is some kind of pressure valve in Prime-a-jet?
Yes kinda. It has a check ball that closes up the opening when the pump reaches so much pressure. at About 1500rpm

Is blow the dislexic way of spelling bowl?

it's basically a simple ball check valve that seems to work in one direction only, which is a good thing. air cannot pressurize the ball, so it bleeds out until water pressure closes it.
