Thread: New pump shaft seal

    I recived my new pump shaft seal that takes the place of the wax ropes.I thought it was going to be a crude type deal, but the thing is a really nice piece.Though I have not used it, the seal looks well thought out.Who makes this seal Duane?

    Is it black anodized one with o-rings on the outside? Probably by DPS.

    No, Ive seen one, plan was to try it, but it arrived one day late and I couldnt wait any longer.
    I beleive Dps claims you will see more RPMs due to less resistance than you would with packings? Ill test it back to back next time my pumps apart, I personally find that hard to believe, but i could easily be wrong.
    Did you install it yet?

    It is made by Don. I think it will help quite a bit on freeing up the pumpshaft. I think there is a lot more drag on a packing seal turning 7000 rpm than you can imagine. We'll see. We are testing one too.

    No, I'am still missing my SS imp Surely its better than thoes dam ropes.
