Thread: Berkeley pump ID ?

I'm trying to do a little homework on my boat while it's too crappy to run it. It's a '77 Avenger with a 429(originally a 460 though) and a Berkeley pump with a Place diverter. I was trying to figure out what model pump I have. I did a search here and came up emptyhanded. From the info on jetboatservices.com it looks like I have either a 12JC or a 12JG. My question being, is there something else I should look for on the pump for an ID? Also,A) what would be the difference in the two and B) does one have any advantage over the other? Thanks in advance for any help!!
Here's a couple of pics of the pump if it's any help:

If those are too far away , I can get closer ones.
    Thanks again!!

Not sure, but if the choice is JG or JC, I'd guess JC (looks like a one-piece bowl?), isn't the JG a split bowl? I really have NO idea, just going from memory, but wanted to try to help... Good Luck! :shift:

There should be a metal tag on the top of the pump inside the boat with the model and make stamped into it.

Thanks for all the responses. Thunder, check yer PMs. As far as other pictures, that'll have to wait till tomorrow. Too dark already and my camera ain't that good! Just for public curiousity, I found the tag previously mentioned earlier this afternoon. It's a 12JC-A. Not sure about the A though. Any thoughts? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller? I'm guessing it' something to do with the impeller. Correct me if I'm wrong though! :hammerhea

Yes, the "A" in "JC-A" indicates the impeller the pump was originally equipped with.

Yes, the "A" refers to the impeller cut.
